Galerie Mokum

We are delighted to invite you for the opening reception of the solo exhibition of Spanish artist Pedro Escalona opening May 9 from 4-6 PM.

In his still lifes, Escalona captures “everything that the present has of the eternal.” Each composition exudes serenity, with carefully rendered light and a balance between detail and suggestion. Earthy, dusty tones are contrasted with rich reds, greens, and blues, applied with an almost chalky texture. Surfaces and spaces emerge subtly in the background, providing a quiet stage for his arrangements. Escalona’s paintings invite contemplation, offering harmony and stillness. For an overview of the works, visit our website via the link in our bio.

Please join us for drinks and bites at the opening on the 9th of May from 4-6 PM. The exhibition is on view till 6th June!

Currently on view is our duo show "Delicacy" featuring works by Leslie Lewis Sigler and Alice de Vliegher.

Sigler chooses precision and refined techniques to capture the nuance of the "families of objects" she depicts. In contrast, de Vliegher's powerful brushstrokes and rich colors elevate the everyday cake to the status of an icon. Together, their works create a sense of balance and harmony within the gallery, demonstrating how delicious food and table culture become carriers of emotion and tradition.

The show runs until 2 May, however we'll be closed during KunstRAI (22-26 April, more information coming soon!)

Join us tomorrow for the opening of Kenne Grégoire's solo exhibition: Anders Bekeken.

Opening Reception: Saturday 21 February, 4 - 6PM.

In Grégoire’s work, ordinary subjects are transformed through refined use of color, classical painting techniques, and carefully considered, surprising compositions. In the interplay of reality and illusion, Grégoire invites the viewer to look closely ... and, above all, to look differently.

We hope to see you at our gallery!

Art on Paper is approaching and we'd like to present the 7th and last woodcut of Eline Brontsema's new swimming pool series.

During her travels to Berlin, Eline not only visited 'Hallenbäder' (indoor pools), but also 'Sommerbäder' (outdoor pools), 'Strandbäder' (beach pools) and, as in this case, 'Kombibäder' (combinated pools).
In this woodcut of an outdoor pool, built in 1974, the 500-apartment Gropiushaus can be seen in the background, now a protected heritage building. By immersing herself in Berlin's swimming pool architecture, she became interested by German architecture from the time when the city was divided into East and West. Both the GDR and West Germany felt the need to express themselves with buildings. By starting to pay attention to this idea, not only the pools, but the whole city shows itself in a new perspective.

Art on Paper is just around the corner, and we are excited to showcase the 6th woodcut of Eline Brontsema's swimming pool series!

"The Sommerbad Am Insulaner, dating from 1958, is Berlin's most hilly outdoor pool. Many original elements from the 1950s are still there, but as in many renovated pools, the tiled floors unfortunately have been removed. Often, they are replaced by 'edelstahlbecken': stainless steel floors. I've heard many people say this is more practical for cleaning and that the water heats up faster. Although I definitely prefer tiles, stainless steel floors sparkle brilliantly in the sun and give beautiful reflections of the giant trees behind it" - Eline Brontsema.

47,4 x 71,5 cm

Dive in to the fifth woodcut of Eline Brontsema's latest swimming pool series!

"In many conversations with lifeguards in Berlin, this is the most common response when I asked them if they would like to recommend any pools. Standtbad Neukölln, built in 1914, once served as a public bathhouse, serving, among other things hygienic purposes. The design was based on ancient Roman baths, and the architecture, with its columns and sculptures, is reminiscent of Greek temples. Upon completion, it was one of the largest and most modern bathhouses in Europe, divided into women's and men's sections. Here you see the women's pool, considerably smaller than the men's" - Eline Brontsema.

The complete series will be on view at from 12-15 February 2026. Find us at booth 17 and N!
