We are happy to show the wonderful sculptures from Miriam Knibbeler at G A L E R I E A N N É E in Haarlem. Miriam Knibbeler (1981) creates expressive, serene sculptures of people, animals, and hybrid forms. Her work stems from a sense of connection with all living things and balances between vulnerability and strength, life and transience.

She works with classical materials such as bronze and ceramics, but also with more unconventional materials like wax. This material possesses a special quality: it is tangible and physical, yet also translucent and ethereal—present and absent at the same time. This gives her sculptures a unique softness and vibrancy.

She plays with scale and distortions, allowing for a subtle sense of alienation to emerge, sometimes more palpable than visible.

Her sculptures are poetic, intimate, and sensual. In this way, she explores themes such as transformation, mortality, and the realm between the physical and the transcendent.

With her artisanal precision and symbolic visual language, Knibbeler positions herself within the classical sculptural tradition, yet her approach to form and material makes her work contemporary and personal. You are most welcome to see her work in the Gallery! Don’t miss it!

Come and see T I T U S B R E I N photographyart at G A L E R I E A N N É E Haarlem. WELCOME The work of Titus Michaël Brein (1966) operates at the intersection of photography and painting. He developed a visual language in which stillness, process, layering, and temporality take center stage. Brein draws inspiration from, among other sources, the visual tradition of the 17th and 19th centuries—landscapes, still lifes, vanitas, and the human body—but translates these themes into a contemporary, serene, and sometimes abstract visual language. In his work, a subtle tension arises between the ephemeral and the enduring, between presence and absence. His images appear to exist in an intermediate zone: neither fully photographic nor purely painterly. Characteristic is his use of self-developed techniques and filters, oil-pigmented and white prints, in which he enriches his photographic images with painterly textures and an almost tangible rendering of materials. This approach creates a visual depth reminiscent of the tradition of Dutch, Italian, and Spanish masters, without falling into nostalgia. His work invites stillness and contemplation, and reveals itself slowly – like an image that appears for a moment, only to disappear again.

21 september - 9 november 2025
Born in 1976 in Stoke-on-Trent, UK, Lawrence James Bailey currently works and lives in Amsterdam. Lawrence graduated with a BFA from the Hull School of Art in 1998. He was then accepted for a two-year residency at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, which he successfully completed in 2001.
“My Work explores the fragile intersection of humanity and nature.
I craft images of figures in rough textile embroidery who appear suspended between worlds, their blank expressions (which invite the viewer to project their own interpretations) and vulnerable poses evoke a sense of uncertainty within the landscape. These figures are both part of the wilderness and at odds with it. They exist in a kind of liminal space between order and chaos, between domestic and wild, embodying themes of disconnection, transformation, and the tenuous balance between belonging and estrangement in a seemingly fractured world.”
