Nieuw bij Let's Speak Dutch: Boeken, Films & Cultuur Club (Preview)

A quick preview before the full info goes live on the website tomorrow!

Starting on Thursday 11 June, I’m launching a small club for expats and internationals who already speak some Dutch (from B1+ level) and would like to become more fluent, natural and confident.

During 5 Thursday evening sessions, we’ll talk in Dutch about books, films, current events, Dutch culture and everything happening in the Netherlands.

This is a relaxed and social way to practise Dutch, meet new people and stay connected to Dutch society and culture.

There will also be light guidance where useful: common mistakes, pronunciation, intonation and sounding more natural in Dutch.

Why I write songs for my students 🎶 🔊 Volume on)

In my courses at Let’s Speak Dutch, we regularly use original sing-along dialogues.

They’re about real-life Dutch — small talk, work, housing — and they always come with a funny twist.

This is just a short fragment from one of them: a conversation about a new house… that turns into a dramatic complaint about high rent 😉

🎶 “Het is zuur, het is zuur, m’n huis is duur…”

Music (and humour) help students remember phrases, practise pronunciation and feel more confident speaking.

The full songs are exclusively for my students — part of the Let’s Speak Dutch method.

🧀🐟🥐 Dutch snacks, Bulgarian banitsa & lots of laughter 🌍💛

At Let’s Speak Dutch, we don’t just learn the language — we also share cultures, food and stories.

One week we’re at the market tasting kibbeling and Dutch cheese, the next week our Bulgarian students surprise us with homemade banitsa and Bulgarian yogurt 🤍

These moments are exactly what make the lessons so special:
✨ learning from each other
✨ discovering new cultures
✨ connecting while practicing Dutch in real-life situations

Because language is not just about words — it’s about people, experiences and feeling at home together.

Vanmiddag vond de praktijkles van Let’s Speak Dutch plaats op de Hilversumse markt.
De cursisten hebben veel Nederlands gesproken met de verkopers van diverse kraampjes. Er werd veel kaas gekocht, maar ook lekkere nootjes en patat speciaal. De kibbeling viel ook erg in de smaakt en zelf de haring vonden de meesten lekker! Eigenlijk werd het een groot eetfestijn!
En we sloten af met een spelletje kwartet bij Mout. Wat een gezellige en geslaagde dag!
