Why do we use digital screens to admire a natural world that technology is actively destroying?🍀

Kasia Molga 🎨🌊🐬🌲⌨️🤖🔬 project Chronicles from In Between 495 to 570 nm (2026) addresses the paradox of the digital age: using technology to render nature in high detail while accelerating its destruction. Through oxidized copper sculptures, verdigris paintings, and a participatory VR

experience, she traces the ecological cost of computing. Copper, a key material in computers, slowly transforms into green pigment used to depict extinct plants. Working with European communities, Molga translates memories of lost landscapes into virtual worlds, turning VR into a tool for environmental remembrance rather than escapism.

installation ‘True Depth’ transforms surveillance technology into a disco. An
overhead disco ball scatters infrared light invisible to the human eye across the room. A floor camera tracks visitors’ movements, exposing the hidden light patterns on a laptop screen. The project references the 3D facial scanning technology in modern smartphones,
using an interactive setup to highlight how constantly and silently our personal data is captured by machines.

What if we could rewrite the algorithms that constantly try to predict our future?🌀

In Prophetai, Ginevra Petrozzi draws on the ancient Greek prophētai, interpreters of the Oracle, to examine how smartphones and digital platforms shape our expectations through data-driven forecasts.

Working with women and female-identifying participants from the neighborhood, Petrozzi brings together collective writing, storytelling, and spoken ritual to perform a ‘digital spell’ that interrupts opaque algorithmic predictions.

Blending mythology, technology, and feminist practice, Prophetai reclaims agency over the stories of our future, turning prediction from a tool of control into an act of shared authorship.

Part of Still Unstable, the exhibition marking 45 years of V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media.

What grows in a wasteland?🗑

In Wasteland, art group explores landscapes devastated by extractive industries, from burning coal seams in the USA to radioactive lakes in Russia.
Using satellite imagery, they overlay these environments with bacteria, fungi and plants that thrive in toxic conditions. Their vibrant collages reveal resilience and new forms of coexistence, asking how life adapts beyond human-centred perspectives.

What image would you create with unlimited possibilities?

Artist Rosa Menkman posed this exact question to scientists during her residency at CERN to explore where the line between possible and impossible truly lies. She gathered these ideas into a virtual exhibition called the BLOB (Binary Large OBject). The project highlights the boundless reach of human imagination while revealing the technological limits of how we create and process images today — featured here as part of V2_’s 45th anniversary celebration.

We’re open daily from 10:00–18:00. Tickets are available online and at the door.

This Friday is Kunstavond: together with Kunstinstituut Melly , MaMA and WORM Rotterdam , we’ll be open until 21:00.

Still enjoying the first two days of Still Unstable 🫶🏼

From Thursday’s opening to yesterday’s talks and performances, it’s been a wonderful start to our 45th anniversary weekend. Thank you to everyone who has celebrated with us so far.

Today we’re heading into the third and final day with another full programme of talks, performances and the Still Unstable exhibition. We hope to see many more of you at V2_ today to celebrate 45 years of V2_ together.

This Saturday at V2_: The Balkanisation of the Cloud

As part of 45 years of V2_: Still Unstable, multimedia artist Anna Ehrenstein and sound artist present their lecture performance The Balkanisation of the Cloud.

The promise of a borderless internet is increasingly shaped by nationalism, propaganda and political violence, revealing how digital spaces remain deeply entangled with nation-state power.

Building on Ehrenstein’s earlier work, the performance reflects on these entanglements at a moment when digital platforms, propaganda and real-time warfare have become increasingly intertwined.
