The Pilgrimage – how to get your passport and stamps
Before taking your first step, get a pilgrim passport. You can buy one at several places along S:t Olavsleden – including tourist information offices, selected churches and pilgrim centres – or order one online before your journey.
Then, keep your eyes open along the way. Stamps can be found at accommodations, churches and other stops along the trail. Some are waiting in unmanned red post boxes or small wooden cupboards. If you are unsure, simply ask where you are staying. Around two stamps per day is usually enough.
Each stamp becomes a small record of where you have been – and a memory of the people and places you met along the way.
If you walk the final 100 kilometres or cycle the final 200 kilometres to Trondheim, bring your stamped passport to the pilgrim reception beside Nidaros Cathedral. There, you can receive your Olav Letter as proof of your completed pilgrimage. 🥾
