Ferdinand Marcos and Imelda Romualdez, the parents of the current President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., got married in San Miguel in Manila.

Marcos took office in 1965, and Imelda became the first lady of the Philippines for 20 years, from 1965 to 1986. After imposing martial law in 1972, Marcos was ousted and exiled to Hawaii in 1986. He died in 1989 at the age of 72. Imelda is now 93 years old.

President Ferdinand E Marcos died of cardiac arrest on September 28, 1989 at St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was 72
In announcing the death of his father, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, who was then 31 years old, said —
''God has taken this great man from our midst to a better place. 'Hopefully, friends and detractors alike will look beyond the man to see what he stood for - his vision, his compassion and his total love of country.''
