"Broken and Mended: Refining and Making me Whole"
An Art Competition Celebrating the 1st Anniversary of Katha Art Space and Mental Health Awareness.
I. Theme Overview
Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, this contest invites artists to explore the journey of mental health—acknowledging that being "not okay" is a part of the human story. We seek works that celebrate the beauty of scars, the process of healing, and the strength found in transformation. How have your "cracks" been filled with gold over the past year?
II. General Guidelines
Eligibility: The contest is open to all amateur artists residing in Cabanatuan City or within Nueva Ecija ( Balaraw Art Collective Senior Artists are refrained from joining the said competition)
Originality: All entries must be original works created by the participant. Plagiarism or the use of AI-generated art is strictly prohibited.
Medium: We welcome traditional (painting, drawing, sculpture) and mixed media works. The use of mixed media or found materials is highly encouraged to reflect the "Mended" theme.
Size: minimum of 12x18 inches /Maximum of 18x24inches / if work is drawing we require the work to be glass framed for safety. For Painting it should be museum wrap or panel bound but with hanging provision. Same with Mixed media work.
Registration Fee: A non-refundable fee of ₱200.00 per entry is required to help fund the exhibition and anniversary activities.
III. Payment & Submission
1. Payment Method: Registration fees should be paid via GCash or Maya to the following account:

2. Proof of Payment: Artists must send a screenshot of their successful transaction as proof of payment along with their entry.
3. Artist Statement: Include a brief explanation (150–300 words) in English or Tagalog describing your Work. It should be submitted in printed format on Short Bond Paper prior to Submission on May 16, 2026.
IV. Criteria for Judging
* Relevance to Theme (40%): How well the piece embodies the Theme's context and narrative.
* Creativity & Originality (30%): Uniqueness of concept and voice.
* Technical Skill (20%): Mastery of the chosen medium.
* Emotional Impact (10%): Ability to evoke empathy regarding mental health.
V. Timeline & Prizes
Artists can start work From May 1-May 15, 2026.
SUBMISSION:
* Submission Deadline: May 16, 2026
* 10:00am to 1pm (entries beyond 1pm shall not be entertained)
* Anniversary Art Contest : May 16, 2026, at KATHA Art Space in Cabanatuan City.
* Submitted entries should be dry, ready to hang and presentable
* Submissions of finished works shall be at the Registration Counter of Katha Art Space Reception Area
* Submitters shall be required to fill up an entry form and recieve their entry numbers.
* Artist Statement: Include a brief explanation (150–300 words) in English or Tagalog describing your Work. It should be submitted in printed format on Short Bond Paper prior to Submission on May 16, 2026.
👉🏼Judging Process: Judging shall be held from 1:15pm to 1:45 pm on May 16, 2026(same day)
Participants shall be asked to vacate Gallery area while judging commences. They can go to the Cafe area for refreshments:-)
Announcement of Winners: May 16, 2026
2:00pm- 2:40pm
👉🏼Prizes:
* Grand Prize: 5,000 pesos plus original Gromyko Semper Art
* 2nd(Second) Prize: 3,000 pesos plus original Gromyko Semper Art
* 3rd (Third Prize): 1500 pesos plus original Gromyko Semper Art
* Top 3 Winning Pieces becomes the property of Katha Art Space and will be exhibited at Katha for two weeks
* Non winning entries will be returned (reclaimed)to the artists
* Participants will recieve Certificate of Participation
* Participants allows Katha Art Space to promote pictures of their works in social media with due credits to the artists
