The official page of the University of San Carlos Museum. USC Museum was formally inaugurated by its founder, Fr. Heinrich Schoenig and their students.

Rudolf Rahmann, SVD, together with First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos on April 23, 1967, during the official visit of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos at University of San Carlos as commencement speaker during graduation rites that same day. Before this, however, a biological and archaeological exhibition room was already in existence in the 1950s, courtesy of Father Rudolf Rahmann, SVD, Dr. Marcelino Mace

da and Fr. In 1908, the Vincentian Fathers who used to run USC until 1935, opened a museum of curiosities at the old campus of the Seminario-Colegio de San Carlos beside Plaza Independencia but this was destroyed, along with the whole campus buildings, during WWII bombings.

GSK may be cancelled but we have plenty more in store for you as seen 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟰. Originally signing up as GSK volunteers, our lovely museum applicants heeded the call to become USC Museum volunteers instead!

Starting with an orientation of the museum’s history and operations followed by a Tour Guiding and Object Handling workshop, our museum applicants took their first steps into the world of museum work.

𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐮

For many years, the Sama Bajau community of Sitio Naba, Alaska, Mambaling has been a long time partner of the Department of Anthropology, Sociology and History (DASH) with collaborations that have led to projects such as the recently launched series of Sama Bajau Children's books showcasing different aspects of Sama Bajau culture and livelihood.

In 2014, DASH initiated the repair and rehabilitation of the 'pantan' based on a Community Needs Assessment conducted with Sama-Bajau elders. This area serves as the community's main entrance, and is also utilized as a gathering venue for marriage rituals and other livelihood activities.

Over the years, however, the 'pantan' gradually degraded making it hazardous to walk over them which can lead to possible accidents.

Curious about volunteering at a heritage event? Join the USC Museum team for Gabii Sa Kabilin 2026! We’re looking for volunteers to not just make cool memories but also make this event meaningful and a success!

This is a great opportunity to experience history as one of the heritage networks in Cebu to host for Gabii sa Kabilin includes USC Museum, which will be on May 15, Friday.

Here are roles you may choose to jump in:

The volunteering program is open to all enrolled students from USC.

In compliance with the University's Modified Work and Class Schedule, the University of San Carlos Museum will temporarily adjust its operating days for the remainder of March.

Open: Monday to Thursday

Museum Hours:
09:00 AM - 12:00 PM
01:30 PM - 05:00 PM

We encourage visitors to plan their museum visits accordingly. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the museum.
