A graduate of Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines, Cebu College, Yrastorza draws inspiration from her many varied interests: books, nature, antiques. Among her favorite subjects are old, weathered houses, overgrown gardens, appreciating the personality and character that time and life has imbued them with. Her fascination with the written word, the truths and wisdom she finds there, also find their way unto her canvas.

𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓’𝒔 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 & 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒅

𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓’𝒔 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 captures a moment both simple and profound—a mother and daughter embracing, their faces close, their arms wrapped around each other in quiet understanding. Hanging from their ears are delicate flower ornaments, swaying gently like whispered stories between them.
It’s a tribute to the bond that deepens over time, from childhood dependence to the tenderness of adulthood. There are unspoken words in their embrace—apologies, gratitude, love that has weathered years. The flowers, once tucked behind ears in playful moments, now hang like symbols of everything they’ve shared. It’s a reminder that no matter how much time passes, a mother’s love is a place we can always return to.

𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒅 I never thought much about my body until motherhood changed it. My belly stretched, the marks stayed, and for years, I saw them as flaws. But time—and love—shifted my perspective.
This painting comes from that realization. It’s not just about the scars but the story they tell—the late nights, the quiet sacrifices, the endless giving. I once wished for my old body back, but now, I see these marks for what they are: proof. Proof that I carried, nurtured, and loved. Proof that I was enough—and always will be.

This painting explores the raw essence of a woman’s resilience, strength, and acceptance of her own mortality and transformation. The red rose, with many thorns, symbolizes her beauty, passion, and struggle—she is not delicate but rather fierce, embracing both love and pain. The thorns represent the hardships and scars she carries, yet she stands tall, unyielding.

The black heart, beating yet fading, reflects the inevitability of change, loss, and the passage of time. It signifies the emotional depths of a woman’s journey—her capacity to love, to endure heartbreak, and to face the fear of fading away with courage. Instead of resisting the cycle of life, she welcomes it, understanding that even in wilting and dying, there is dignity, strength, and rebirth.

The Sto. Niño and Magellan’s Cross are symbols of my faith and devotion to God and the strong belief in my Cebuano roots.
The island of Cebu has been through so much and the Sto. Niño to whom I have a devotion, has been a constant and ever present source of strength for our people. He has spared us from harm, natural and man made calamities and many other disasters.

As a Cebuano woman, Magellans Cross and the Sto. Nino, more than being just symbols, are the real pillars of strength that make me who I am today

Actively painting since 1993, Fe is an active member of Cebu Artists Incorporated and manage ArtPortalCebu gallery. Deeply fascinated with nature, she loves to paint landscape and still life, but also love to painting flower theme, as the characters of this subject reflect the womanhood in her. In many aspects, both in form and character, a woman can be as lovely as flowers. She can have the same grace, energy, and genuine charm that attracts others as flowers. Her beauty might be as delicate as petals, as bright as a sunflower, or as mystical as a jasmine flourishing at night. Beyond appearances, a woman's beauty may be found in her soul; she possesses resilience, tenderness, and the capacity to make even the gloomiest days brighter, just like flowers bloom in different seasons. Every woman has a distinct presence that makes an impression wherever she goes, just as every flower has a distinct aroma.

"𝑷𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑱𝒐𝒚" 😍🐱🐼

"El Em" and "Panda" weren’t just stray cats to me. When I found them on the streets and decided to take them in, they brought a kind of happiness I never expected. They filled my days with playful moments, soft purrs, and a feeling of comfort I can’t quite put into words.

My painting reflects exactly what they brought into my life—color, joy, and a sense of wonder. I like to imagine that the bright, magical world I painted is what their world looks like. Cats have always felt a little mystical to me, as if they travel to some other dimension we can only dream of. Maybe that’s why they seemed to carry a kind of magic with them, brightening even the dullest days.

This painting isn’t just about them; it’s about what they taught me—that even in the most unexpected places, like the streets, you can find something so full of love and light. El Em and Panda made my life richer, and this artwork is my way of celebrating that. It’s a little piece of their story—and mine too.

“𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆𝒔, 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒂 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓” shows that women are not restricted by any fixed mold—they are queens in every sense, leading families, communities, and nations while shaping their own futures. By moving through and redefining these “shapes,” they prove that success comes from the ability to change, adapt, and rise above challenges in a complex world.

“𝑯𝒆𝒓 𝑴𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅” celebrates how women make a difference in every role they take on—whether as mothers, teachers, caregivers, leaders, etc. As mothers, they nurture the next generation; as teachers, they spark learning and growth; as caregivers, they provide comfort and strength; and as leaders, they guide communities.

At this stage in her life, the artist—represented by the lady in the painting—has mastered the art of picking her battles. Clad in the robe of divine peace amid a chaotic and uncertain world, she firmly believes that her vision, action, and deep faith will not only transform her own life but also inspire change in the lives of others.

𝑨 𝑲𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑭𝒐𝒍𝒌 𝑷𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈

Kim Hee-jung's latest series delicately preserves the emotions and memories she felt during her time in the unfamiliar Philippines, giving the impression that they were contained in a jar. This work connects themes of love and nature in a poetic and profound way, evoking warmth and nostalgia.

At the center of the painting is a smiling woman holding a baby in her arms.

The elegant curves surrounding her, like a jar, seem to contain the essence of life and preserve precious moments.

Around them are blooming flowers and gently floating clouds, symbolizing the flow of time and the endless cycle of life.

In addition, the woman's hanbok-inspired costume subtly reflects the artist's Korean identity, and the traditional hut in the background pays quiet homage to her cultural roots.

This work gently fuses universal emotions and personal memories, depicting the process of finding meaning in a new place and the beauty of love. This is a passionate and poetic expression of Kim Hee-jung's creative world.
