Experience a collective showcase of creativity from local artists, each piece telling stories that connect us, inspire us, and remind us of the beauty of shared expression.

[Bit of History]

Dipolog rose to prominence during World War II in the Victor IV Operations to retake Mindanao due to the complementary, albeit significant role it played in the ensuing Battle for Zamboanga and the Sulu Archipelago, because of the strategic location of its airfield.

81 years ago, a battle was fought in defense of the Dipolog Airfield. A young man, Corporal Jesus "Jake" B. Ilogon, then a 20-year old guerilla from Iligan, had his first taste of battle here.

Cpl. Ilogon recalls: โ€œAt 8AM in the morning of April 24, 1945 three P-38 Lightnings (called double-body by the locals) made a shallow dive and strafed the Japanese in three passes. The plane barrage was a grim show from our grandstand ridge.โ€

The Battle of Dipolog is an interesting study of World War II in the Pacific Theatre, because not only was it a small scale showcase of the American armed forces joint operation tactics to retake its Philippine territories from the Imperial Japanese Army, featuring close coordination not only betwee...

Here is the Official Poster for National Heritage Month 2026 bearing the theme โ€œRoots and Horizons: Our Shared Heritage, Our Collective Futureโ€

At the heart of this yearโ€™s visual is the banigโ€”a symbol of connection, continuity, and community. Just as each strand is carefully woven, our heritage is shaped by the many stories, traditions, and identities that bind us as Filipinos across generations.

Surrounding it are diverse communities, reminding us that heritage belongs to all of usโ€”lived, practiced, and passed on in everyday life. The rising sun speaks of hope, while the vibrant colors reflect the richness and dynamism of our cultural expressions.

As we celebrate National Heritage Month this May, we are invited not only to look back with pride, but to take part in carrying our heritage forward. It is not confined to the pastโ€”it is a living legacy, sustained by collective care and shared responsibility.

Together, let us honor our roots and shape our collective future.
