Rizal's philosophy about nationhood : "To foretell the destiny of a nation, it is necessary to open the book that tells of her past." It recognizes the need to culturally educate the Filipino youth. It believes that youth, to whom the future belongs, must know how the past generation lived. In the end, it envisions a society with profound sense of history and strong firm resolve to create a nation better than past.
