THE LUNA LA UNION 2026 TRAVEL GUIDE:
FEEL LUNA, La Union!

Welcome to Luna! 🇵🇭
Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or a nature seeker, Luna has a spot for you.

Check out these must-visit gems:

Historical & Heritage Landmarks

Baluarte Watch Tower
This 16th Century-old Spanish-era fortress in Barangay Victoria served as a lookout for invading pirates. Recently restored, the tower is unique for its "fusion" appearance—one half is made of original dark adobe, while the other is reinforced with lighter red bricks.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Namacpacan
Built in 1690, this National Cultural Treasure is an "Earthquake Baroque" church with massive buttresses. It is home to the miraculous 6-foot-4-inch image of Our Lady of Namacpacan, the patroness of Ilocano travelers.

Luna Municipal Hall
Built in 1915, it is the oldest municipal hall in La Union. Its Spanish-American colonial design features capiz shell windows and stands directly across from the church, following traditional Spanish town planning.

USAFIP-NL - Military Shrine
Located in Darigayos, this shrine honors the United States Armed Forces in the Philippines-Northern Luzon (USAFIP-NL). It served as a GHQ during the liberation of Luzon in WWII and features a memorial wall for fallen soldiers.

Artistic & Scenic Attractions:
Bahay na Bato-noblehome- Open Art Gallery and Museum with Staycation & Bato De Luna Art Gallery: (Stone Art)
These interconnected art havens in Barangay Nalvo Norte feature the work of Korean artist Mr. B**g Kim. They are built almost entirely from local pebbles and driftwood, showcasing intricate stone carvings and 3D art galleries.

Barrientos Luna La Union (Pottery)
Pottery in Barrientos is recognized as one of the oldest traditional crafts in the province of La Union. For generations, families have passed down the rudimentary techniques of hand-shaping ceramics, preserving an ancestral tradition that serves as both a cultural anchor and a small-scale industry.

Camp Luna Glamping Resort: (OPM Memorabilia)
The resort serves as a tribute to Original Pilipino Music (OPM), housing a private collection of rare memorabilia from iconic bands. These artifacts, including guitars and awards, are integrated into the resort's villas and common areas.
While primarily a beachfront accommodation, it is distinguished by several unique features that make it a destination in its own right.

Pebble Beach, Luna La Union:
Unlike typical sandy shores, Luna's coastline is covered in multi-colored pebbles that serve as a source of livelihood for locals. The beach is especially scenic near the Baluarte Watchtower during sunset.

Darigayos Cove, Luna, La Union:
Darigayos Cove is also recognized as a legitimate alternative surf spot in La Union, particularly for those seeking a quieter, uncrowded experience.
It is also a prominent area for fresh tuna in La Union, serving as a primary landing site for artisanal fishers.
A tranquil spot featuring both white sand and rocky areas. Historically, it was the site of secret submarine landings for unloading war supplies during WWII.

Man-made Forest Luna La Union
Bacnotan-Luna-Balaoan Road lined with towering mahogany trees. It creates a cool, emerald canopy that is a favorite for road trip photography near Barangay Nalvo Sur.

Natural Waterfalls
Occalong Falls
Located in Barangay Cabalitocan, this falls is a 20-minute ride from the town center. It offers a cool basin for swimming and is surrounded by picnic areas.

Usuken falls
Situated just below Occallong Falls, it features a cave-like cascade that creates a unique and enchanting display of flowing water.

Immagdan Falls
Located above Occallong Falls, it is a hidden gem in the inland areas of Bgy. Cabalitocan, providing a serene escape for trekkers and nature lovers seeking less crowded spots.

Hidden Gem:
The Ermita Ruins in Luna, La Union, are the historical remains of a 19th-century Spanish-era mortuary chapel (ermita) located within the town's Roman Catholic Cemetery. It is considered one of the last standing heritage sites of its kind in the province.
