SouMak takes its name from its spiritual birthplace, which is a fringe town south of Makati where it first opened its doors in 1997 as a showroom cm gallery for Philippine-made objects. On the occasion of its 20th year, we (a loose consortium of office staff and creatives working under the spell of SouMak’s creator, the artist Yola Johnson) decided to bring SouMak to the present by moving to the

digital space. In our intimate boutique, you will find various articles for the home, that includes furniture, accessories, and even random items (like hats, house robes, etc.) Each piece bears the imprints of a craftsman’s hands or an artist’s strokes, the hallmarks of SouMak’s ethos: A devotion to inspired work whether it’s art—both functional and useless—or handcraft. The lines form the image of a home that projects a certain kind of charm. It may not be perfect, but it is unique and feels real.
