ANNOUNCEMENT:

After our close observance of the river’s tide, there will be changes in this afternoon’s Fluvial Procession for the Peñafrancia de Mayo:

• The start of the Fluvial Procession may begin earlier at 1:00 PM onwards.

• The Pontifical Mass may also start earlier at around 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

We encourage all devotees and pilgrims to be guided accordingly and to stay updated through the official announcements of the Basilica.

As we conclude the nine days of the Peñafrancia de Mayo Novena this Friday, May 22, all devotees are warmly invited to join the solemn Fluvial Procession along the Bicol River as the sacred images of Inâ and the Divino Rostro return to the Basilica.

We also encourage devotees residing along the riverside to gather with your families, loved ones, and friends, and light candles as the pagoda passes by, welcoming Inâ and the Divino Rostro with prayer and devotion. May this simple act become a sign of unity in faith, hope, and love for God through the maternal care of Our Blessed Mother.

The Pontifical Mass will be presided over by the Most Rev. Rex Andrew C. Alarcon, D.D, Archbishop of Caceres.

Today, we celebrate the forty-fourth anniversary of the solemn dedication of the church of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.

Consecrated on May 22, 1982 by Jaime Cardinal Sin, this sacred sanctuary was born from the dream of a basilica dedicated to the Virgin of Peñafrancia envisioned by Pedro Santos. Through the unwavering faith and fervent devotion of countless pilgrims and devotees, this vision became a reality so that more people may gather beneath the loving mantle of Inâ and gaze upon the Divino Rostro. For more than four decades, the Basilica has stood as a living sanctuary where Our Lady of Peñafrancia continues to nurture the growing Church, leading generations of the faithful closer to Christ.

In celebration of this anniversary, all Masses on May 22 at the Basilica shall observe the Mass for the Anniversary of the Dedication of a Church. The Principal Mass will be solemnly celebrated in the evening at the conclusion of the Fluvial Procession, at approximately 6:30 PM, and will be presided over by the Archbishop of Caceres, Rex Andrew C. Alarcon.

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 14, 2026, the sacred images of Inâ and the Divino Rostro will once again grace the streets of Naga City through the Peñafrancia de Mayo Traslacion Procession from the Basilica to the Naga City People’s Mall. Devotees are encouraged to bring candles and rosaries to help foster a more solemn and prayerful procession.

As we walk in peace, let us offer our prayer intentions especially for our country, praying for unity, healing, justice, and hope. May this sacred procession lead us closer to Christ and remind us that, amid trials and uncertainties, God continues to walk with His people.
