The NHCP Metro Manila Cluster Museums and the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office Manila together with the Rotary Club of San Juan del Monte will bring the โ€˜Karaban ng Kasaysayan para sa Kabataanโ€™ to Bacood Elementary School, Sta. Mesa, Manila on 10 October 2025.

In line with the NHCPโ€™s โ€˜Dekada ng Kasaysayan 2023-2033โ€™ and 2025 theme โ€˜Year of the Youth in Philippine History,โ€™ the event is aimed to actively engage Filipino youth on discovering and understanding the nationโ€™s rich history through the Filipinosโ€™ fight for freedom and nationhood.

The โ€˜Karabanโ€™ is dedicated to connecting with grassroots communities, specifically Metro Manila public school learners. Storytelling, arts and crafts, TAV (Touch the Artistโ€™s Vision) tactile exhibit, film showing and lecture on the importance of the Philippine flag and its symbols are some of the program components.

MUSEUMS IN *AND AROUND* METRO MANILA
(Updated October 2025)

October is Museums and Galleries month. Hereโ€™s an updated list of some of the most popular museums in and near Metro Manila, including newly opened and soon to open ones. I arranged the list geographically by location so itโ€™s easier to visit several museums in one trip.

For first-time international tourists to Metro Manila, the best museums to visit are the three central museums of the National Museum of the Philippines Complex (Fine Arts, Natural History and Anthropology; all free to visit) and museums in Intramuros since theyโ€™re all walking distance from each other. Those with kids might prefer the digital/interactive art museums located in Pasay malls and the ones in Makati/Taguig.

For locals, there are lots of smaller, niche museums scattered around different cities, though some are harder to find or visit than others. Have personally visited 41/60 in this list.

NOTE: I know there are a lot more museums that are not included here esp. in Manila. I wanted to include suggestions from different cities but I will come up with more detailed lists PER CITY. โœŒ๏ธ Let me know what I missed.

(Updated Ver. 2. Other museums mentioned that can't fit will be included in per city lists. Thanks!)

115th Birth Anniversary
PRESIDENT DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL
1910 โ€ข 28 September โ€ข 2025

On this day, 115 years ago, Diosdado Macapagal was born in Lubao, Pampanga. A former Representative of the First District of Pampanga in the House of Representatives (1949โ€“1957) and Vice President (1957โ€“1961), Macapagal was the ninth President of the country, serving from 1961 to 1965.

During his presidency, one of his official vehicles was the iconic Cadillac Sedan Deville. However, President Macapagal often preferred to use a Ford or Chevrolet for everyday purposes, reserving the Cadillac primarily for state occasions and visits from foreign dignitaries. The Cadillac Sedan Deville was part of the early production models manufactured between 1959 and 1960. With only about 20,000 units produced worldwide, fewer than 100 were officially allocated for export.

The Cadillac Sedan Deville is a 4-speed automatic vehicle, powered by a 6.4-liter V8 engine, producing a remarkable 329 horsepower.

108th Birth Anniversary
PRESIDENT FERDINAND E. MARCOS
1917 โ€ข 11 September โ€ข 2025

On this day, 108 years ago, Ferdinand E. Marcos was born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte. A former representative of Ilocos Norte and President of the Senate, Marcos was the 10th President of the country, serving from 1965 to 1986. During his administration, one of the notable vehicles used for presidential duties was the 1980 Lincoln Continental Mark VI Signature Series. Marcos opted for this model due to its adaptability, as it could be customized to provide a more expansive interior. The interior was elegantly designed with blue and gray velour, complemented by wood and chrome accents. Even in the 1980s, the Lincoln Continental was equipped with advanced features, such as keyless entry and a digital gauge cluster, which included a computer system that displayed fuel levels and estimated time of arrival.

The Lincoln Continental Mark VI Signature Series is a 4-speed automatic vehicle, powered by a 5-liter V8 engine, capable of producing up to 130 horsepower.

147th Birth Anniversary
PRESIDENT SERGIO OSMEร‘A
1878 โ€ข 09 September โ€ข 2025

On this day, 147 years ago, Sergio Osmeรฑa was born in Cebu City. A distinguished leader who served as Speaker of the Philippine Assembly, Senator, and Vice President, Osmeรฑa went on to become the second President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, serving from 1944 to 1946. His presidency was defined by his efforts to rebuild the nation after the widespread devastation of the Second World War.

Selecting a presidential vehicle was not a major priority for President Osmeรฑa. Instead, he opted to use the Packard Custom Super-Eight One-Eighty Limousine, a vehicle previously used by President Jose P. Laurel. Designed for heads of state and high-ranking officials, the car's interior featured the finest materials of the time, including premium fabrics, leather, and carpeting, with a wool-lined ceiling.

The Packard Super Eight One-Eighty Limousine is a 3-speed manual car, powered by a 5.8-liter, 8-cylinder engine, capable of producing 162 horsepower.
