Wishing a blessed birthday to a true visionary, Jeff T. Dizon ! ✨

Beyond the intricate lines and complex patterns lies a heart deeply rooted in faith and love for country.

Today, we honor the storyteller who reminds us that even in the busiest details of life, there is grace to be found.

From early days at UP to becoming a pillar of Philippine art, Dizon's journey is an inspiration to all of us.

We pray for continued good health, overflowing inspiration, and more years of sharing this God-given talent with the world.

Happy birthday, sir Jeff !

Most people see ‘Filipino cubism’ and texture, but when you’ve tracked Dizon’s work for years, you notice he’s creating visual complexities like the skeleton dial on a Richard Mille.

This artwork touches on a desperate, human need to find a pattern. To believe that the universe is trying to tell us something, when really, we’re just looking for permission to do what we already want to do.

It’s the feeling of an overwhelming tension, maybe a bit anxious about the future; hence the ‘Hula’ theme.

The dog, the chaotic pattern, and the literal clown show detail of this artwork is as loud as a carnival. But there’s this single, deliberate choice. A specific card.

We are introduced by the overwhelming nature of the canvas. Two people can look at this painting differently because of what they brought with them into the room.

We realize the context was never written in the cards, but in the eye of the beholder.

And the discipline is in the structure of the art, snapping us back from observing the philosophical to the physical mastery of the piece.

Dizon can give us the clown, the clock, the cat or other complexities, but the artwork is titled the ‘Queen of Hearts’, so you will find it.

The universe reveals itself to you relative to what you want to see.

“Thanks God it’s Friday” can be read as a contemporary expressionist study of transition, ritual, and psychological recovery within urban modernity. Rather than functioning as a conventional portrait, the work operates as a symbolic structure that organizes the lived tension between labor, identity, and leisure. The female figure is rendered not as an individualized subject but as a type, an archetype of the modern urban worker negotiating the threshold between institutional order and personal autonomy.

Formally, the painting exemplifies Jeff Dizon’s Modern Expressionist language through its dense, ornamentally embellished line work and saturated color fields. The deliberate absence of negative space reflects a clear engagement with horror vacui, where the entire pictorial surface is brought under aesthetic control. This visual strategy asserts order as an active response to fragmentation, binding figure, object, and background into a single coherent system. The flattened perspective and graphic contours echo pop and folk-art traditions, while the visible labor of layered paint and pattern situates the work within a lineage of expressionist materiality derived from Abstract Expressionism.

Symbolically, the composition stages a dialogue between order and chaos. The exaggerated facial features and stylized accessories suggest expressive distortion, signaling the pressures imposed by contemporary life. Objects such as the drink, the smartphone, and the luxury handbag function as cultural signifiers, indexing modern leisure, digital dependency, and aspirational consumption. These elements are not isolated but structurally integrated, reinforcing the painting’s role as a visual theology that organizes social experience into legible form.

Within an interior environment, the work asserts a strong narrative presence. Its vibrant palette and compositional density resist neutrality, activating surrounding space and positioning the painting as an agent of emotional and perceptual reorientation. In this sense, “Thanks God it’s Friday” operates as a stabilizing visual structure, offering not escape from chaos but a disciplined, symbolic framework through which it can be momentarily held, interpreted, and endured.

Showcasing what Art Nouveau Manila is all about, Dizon captures an emotion that transcends individual affection and embraces universal respect; Purr Love

I mean Pure Love, but you get the pun.

The playful presence of the cat and the serene woman's thoughtful pose symbolize grace and glamour, but somehow, even in this SOSI 2 series, Dizon masterfully conveys the message that love is pure and respect is absolute when we cherish all beings.

Just as the trees and stars coexist in harmony, so too must we embrace our shared humanity with love and respect.

You have an inherent worth and a rightful place in this world, remember?

So, whenever you feel powerless against the currents of the universe, show some love and pet a cat... or a dog! You fetch the point.

Yesterday evening, Dizon finally exhibited the good, the bad and the luxurious SOSI Series in a solo show in UPTOWN Mall BGC.

The venue was packed with glamour as the people sipped their wine and held their glass between the middle of their fingers.

It was as if each piece exhibited from the collection was moving with the crowd. The snaps and sounds from phone camera shots and selfies complimented the laughter of the guests.

Maybe 100 years from now, people would forget about the event, but the experience will never be forgotten by the souls of each painting displayed that night.

These photos are borrowed from various sources, but the best photographer of the evening was Jeff Dizon himself. SOSI is a screenshot of what fabulous looks like toda...

I'm looking at a perfectly lined up chaos.

What are your chances of finding love when The Queen of Heart is shuffled in billions of people?

The answer is "I don't know," but that also seems to be the best part about love.

This abstract idea written in a language called art is like a coquettish game between what we understand and what we don't.

Or maybe love is just about commitment
like Dizon's complex art techniques;

layers of simple actions developed
through time and dedication.

So, who do you love? That's for you to decide.

Marked by a continuous evolution and exploration of themes, techniques, and styles from the thought-provoking Diviners to the flashy contemporary Sosi 2 Series, Dizon's passion for art ignited at a young age.

In his early years as an artist, Dizon honed his skills and developed his unique artistic voice through formal education at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. Here, he gained recognition for his superior draftsmanship and palette discipline, laying the foundation for his future success.

Today, Dizon stands as a pillar of the Philippine art scene, celebrated for his mastery of contemporary expression and cultural impact.

He saw art not just as a form of expression but as a means of connecting with others, sparking conversations, and inspiring change.

Dizon found peace in paintings. The canvas mutes the external noise and amplifies the internal expression. Perhaps, for Dizon, painting holds the same significance as writing did to Jose Rizal.

While it's a skill to convey thoughts precisely through words, individuals like Dizon opt to express themselves through the fluidity of movement on canvas.

In the world of art, distractions fade away, and in the flow state, one experiences the serene silence. Art becomes a divine moment of connection between oneself and inner thoughts.

Dizon's Yakap tenderly portrays the universal human longing for comfort and connection, exemplified by the gentle embrace between a mother and child depicted in this artwork.

"Tenderly Love" within the Yakap delves more into the timeless narrative of maternal love and devotion, which captures the beauty of this relationship.

As love fills the air today, let's make this Valentine's Day extra special with the people closest to our hearts. Cheers to love!
