INTERSECTING IDENTITIES
Metro Gallery | Year-Ender Group Show

In its third year last December 2025, Intersecting Identities returned as Metro Gallery’s year-ender group show, gathering a diverse roster of contemporary painters whose works reflected the layered and evolving nature of identity.

Each artist presented a distinct visual language, with narratives rooted in memory, culture, place, and personal introspection — intersecting in meaningful and unexpected ways.

The exhibition fostered dialogue and camaraderie among artists with varying perspectives, affirming that community can thrive in both shared and differing views. It stood as a strong close to the year and a testament to the vitality of contemporary Filipino painting.

Set against a quiet landscape, the painting stages an intimate exchange: a figure reading a letter to his own likeness. Through layered color and narrative detail, Hernandez reflects on self-confrontation, memory, and the act of addressing one’s past with clarity.
