THE AFTERMATH

Filipinos came out to assist the PT boats in picking up survivors after the Japanese warships were destroyed at Surigao Strait by forces of the Seventh Fleet in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Photographs received 14 November 1944. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2014/4/17).

Where are we headed?

In 2013, we started the Battle of Surigao Strait Museum. Through the years we gained a following. During the 75th anniversary of the battle we opened a $400,000.00 memorial and museum (fully funded by our city) in front of the waters where the battle was fought. We envision to build a bigger Battle of Leyte Gulf Museum, which will tell the story of not just the Battle of Surigao Strait but of the other battles; First contact at Palawan Passage, Battle of Sibuyan Sea, Battle off Samar and the Battle of Cape Engano.
