This Earth Day, we didn’t just talk about nature, we built for it 🐝✨

A simple bee house, made with care, for native solitary bees (bees that do not live in hives).

And did you know?
All bees are pollinators.
But not all bees make honey.

Sharing little stories from last week that made us proud, happy, and honestly a bit surprised. ❤️

A two-storey pot recycled from a single plastic bottle. One half waters the money plant directly, while the other half sustains moss through water vapors below.

A minimalistic diagram of the human heart, simple yet precise.

Both created by our 7th graders.

In our microscopy class, while exploring plant and animal structures, one curious kid asked, “Pine leaves probably don’t have different tissues, right? Because they’re so thin!”

“Let’s find out.”, I said.

What happened next? Total amazement.
I reminded them to say SubhanAllah, because truly, even something this small is created with such delicacy and precision by Allah.

Meet Breto Mama, the red-spotted longhorn beetle, a dashing pollinator with a sneaky side! While they help flowers bloom, they also lay their eggs inside your beloved mango and fig trees. 🥭

You can spot a male by checking out colors of his wing covers (elytra), his long fancy antennae, and his smaller body. In the insect world, the ladies are the larger ones! 🪲

Don’t worry, they’re not harmful. But they can give you a mini heart attack by making a surprise squeaky sound called stridulation, that’s when they rub parts of their body together to chirp like tiny machines. 🤖

Yesterday’s terrarium sprint was a blast! 🌱
We didn’t just build terrariums, we explored their fascinating history, got hands-on with all the components, and looked closely at how science plays out inside these tiny ecosystems.

It was so rewarding to see everyone feeling the textures, observing the layers, and thinking deeply about where terrariums can go next; in classrooms, in design, in space projects, and even in storytelling.

These little green worlds hold so much potential, and I loved watching curiosity take root in new ways.

Big thanks to Precision Medicine Lab for having me. It was a pleasure to share this space and grow ideas together! 🌿

Excited to be there!

Presenting the first edition of the PMLAB Sprints Spring'25 Series ‼️

"Make your own Terrarium" 🌱

Terraria are closed, self-sustaining systems, ideally at an equilibrium between the biotic and the abiotic. These are great models to do and teach science. Perhaps some art as well ✨

This sprint comes in a close collaboration with Dar el Hekmet.

➡️ Sprints are internal workshops for Labbers and xLabbers, meant for the exchange of skills and ideas.
