The hidden parts of Auschwitz they won’t show you…

Behind the buildings, beyond the paths visitors usually follow, lies a history that is difficult to comprehend. Every corner of Auschwitz holds a story, and some of the darkest chapters are the hardest to face.

These are not just buildings, ruins or forgotten spaces. They are reminders of the lives destroyed, the suffering endured and the millions of people who must never be forgotten.

History isn’t always comfortable to see, but looking away doesn’t change what happened.

We owe it to the victims to remember. 🕯️

Inside the gas chamber at Auschwitz I. A place where thousands of innocent people were murdered as part of the systematic extermination carried out at Auschwitz.

In this full video, we walk through the site and explore the remains of a place that bears witness to one of the darkest chapters in human history.

The victims included Jewish men, women and children, alongside other groups persecuted by the camp system. Each person had a name, a family, dreams and a life that should never have been taken from them.

Today, the surviving structure stands as a place of remembrance, education and warning. The evidence preserved here reminds us why it is so important to confront the truth about what happened.

🕯️ History must be remembered, the victims must be honoured, and the truth must never be forgotten.

What do you think future generations most need to understand when visiting places like this?

This is the kitchen at Auschwitz, where food was prepared for prisoners held inside the camp.

Although meals were provided, the rations were often desperately inadequate for people subjected to forced labour, brutal conditions and constant hunger.

Prisoners could spend their days performing exhausting work while surviving on small portions of bread and thin soup. Malnutrition weakened their bodies, leaving many increasingly vulnerable to disease and death.

Something as basic as food became another daily struggle for survival.

💔 Can you imagine being forced to work all day while never knowing whether the food you received would be enough to keep you alive?

🕯️ Remembering the people who suffered here.

Walking through the Auschwitz Museum is a reminder that behind every object, every photograph and every empty space was a real human life.

Millions of stories. Families separated. Futures stolen. And memories that must never be forgotten.

We visit not only to learn about history, but to understand where hatred, prejudice and dehumanisation can lead when the world looks away.

Why do you think it is so important for places like Auschwitz to be preserved for future generations?

🕯️ Never forget.

BLOCK 5: THE EVIDENCE THEY COULD NEVER ERASE.

Inside Block 5 at Auschwitz I, thousands of personal belongings taken from prisoners are displayed as evidence of the lives destroyed by the camp. Shoes, suitcases, glasses, kitchen utensils and everyday objects tell a story that statistics alone never could.

Every item once belonged to a real person. Someone who had a home, a family, a routine and a future they expected to live.

The sheer scale of these collections is difficult to comprehend. Behind every object was an individual life, and behind every life was a story.

This is a full tour inside Block 5, where the belongings of the victims remain as a powerful reminder of the human beings behind the history.

If you could preserve just one thing to tell future generations about the people who suffered here, what would it be?

These ruins are all that remain of one of the darkest places in Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Look closely. What you are seeing is not an ordinary building destroyed by time. These are the remains of a gas chamber and crematorium that the SS attempted to destroy as they tried to conceal the evidence of their crimes.

Thousands of people were brought to Auschwitz-Birkenau, many believing they were being taken somewhere else. Instead, countless men, women and children were killed here simply because of who they were.

As you walk through these ruins, it is difficult to comprehend the scale of what happened. The walls are broken, the concrete lies scattered across the ground, and nature is slowly reclaiming the site. Yet the history held within these remains cannot be erased.

The SS destroyed these structures in an attempt to hide what had taken place. They could not destroy the truth.

Today, these ruins stand as a place of remembrance for the victims whose lives were taken, the families who were torn apart, and the survivors who carried these memories for the rest of their lives.

Three minutes may seem like a long time to look at a few broken walls. But behind every piece of rubble is a history that deserves to be remembered.

If these ruins could tell their story, what do you think the world most needs to remember?

Never forget the people behind the history.

These electric fences were more than a barrier. They were a symbol of the world prisoners were trapped inside at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Surrounded by electrified wire, watchtowers and guards, prisoners faced a place designed to strip away their freedom and dignity. The fence stood between them and the outside world, where life continued while unimaginable suffering took place behind it.

Today, these remains stand as a chilling reminder of the people who were imprisoned here and the lives that were lost.

When you look at this fence, can you imagine what it must have felt like to realise there was no way out?

This is Auschwitz-Birkenau — a place many people recognise, but few truly understand.

Built during the Second World War, Auschwitz II-Birkenau became the largest part of the Auschwitz camp complex. Hundreds of thousands of people were deported here from across German-occupied Europe.

The site included prisoner barracks, the unloading platform, crematoria and gas chambers, warehouses, and numerous other buildings and structures.

Today, much of Birkenau remains open and preserved as a memorial, with the scale of the site making it difficult to comprehend how many people were held here.

When you first saw Birkenau in person, what was the first thing that struck you?

You can visit Auschwitz with a guide and still leave without seeing some of the places visitors can access.

The standard tour follows a set route through Auschwitz I and Auschwitz-Birkenau, but there are other areas of the Memorial that aren’t necessarily included in that route.

Some of the most overlooked places are away from the main visitor path — and many people leave without ever knowing they were there.

Did you stick with the guided route, or did you explore beyond it?

They didn’t come here to live. They were sent here to die.

This barrack at Auschwitz-Birkenau was part of the brutal system in which women were imprisoned under horrific conditions. Many were already starving, sick and physically broken by the time they reached places like this.

Today, the walls are silent. But what happened here should never be forgotten.

Could you stand inside a place knowing what happened to the women who were imprisoned here?
