Svíar Svíar - återskapar kultur från sveabygd under perioden sent 700:tal till tidigt 800:tal. Vi är krigare, hantverkare, pedagoger och konstnärer.

Svíar - re-creates the Culture from the area around Lake Mälaren during the late 8th century to early 9th Century. Svíar återskapar kultur från sveabygd med fokus på det tidiga åttahundratalets Mälardalen.

Our recreated Salme shield was tested with Salme arrows and historical bows at close range. The plank shield, covered in hand tanned leather, did its job!

Vendel age festival at the Gamla Uppsala Museum

This weekend, some of our members took part in the Vendel event at the Uppsala mounds.

Thomas and Faravid held a lecture about their recreation of equipment from the Salme boat burials.

We want to thank the museum staff and our fellow reenactors, scholars and craftspeople for a lovely weekend.

10. aprillil, kui avasime Saaremaa Muuseumi viikinginäituse Stockholmis Vraki muuseumis, olid kohal ka muuseumientusiastid Sander Olo ja Sander Jürisson, kes tegid kohapeal Eesti muuseumi suursündmuse puhul intervjuud nii Saaremaa muuseumi juhi Priit Kivi kui ka näituse avamisel viibinud Eesti suursaadikuga Rootsi Kuningriigis, Toomas Lukiga (kuulatav alates 14. minutist).

VIKINGS BEFORE VIKINGS- The Salme boat burials exhibition

Three members of Svíar attended the opening ceremony for this fine exhibition, presenting their recreations of weapons, shields and cloak buckles from Salme.

The Salme findings have indeed changed our understanding of the viking period and the Swedish history.
