Discover Latest Works: Nimbus Series

Reg Yuson’s Nimbus series was born during the pandemic while living near the volcanic uplands of Alfonso. There, surrounded by nature and constrained by limited industrial materials, he turned to the primordial elements of his environment with volcanic rock, boulders, and flowing water as both medium and metaphor. In Nimbus, clouds are reimagined in solid form, suspended above ground by delicate steel rods that mimic rain, speaking to the quiet forces of gravity, erosion, and transformation.

Reg Yuson is one of the Philippines’ leading contemporary artists, known for his conceptual sculptures and commitment to public art. Reg extends his sculptures beyond gallery walls, transforming public spaces with large-scale installations that explore tension, gravity, and perception.

New Artwork: Budi Agung Kuswara

In Anonymous Deities from the East, Kabul reinterprets 1930s colonial photographs that stripped ancestors of their identities and reduced them to stereotypes. Through visual strategies, such as clothing the figures in European attire, placing them at the centre of grand compositions, and juxtaposing VOC insignias, Batavia, and ancestral altars, Kuswara overturns colonial narratives: reclaiming dignity and autonomy for those anonymised by history.

New Representation: Mark Nativo

Mark Nativo is a contemporary Filipino painter whose works explore the ways reality can be seen through multiple perspectives. His practice challenges the traditional rules of visual representation by breaking apart the pictorial plane, allowing different elements such as portraiture, still life, and landscape to coexist within a fragmented yet carefully structured composition. Nativo creates layered spaces where images appear to shift, encouraging viewers to reconsider how they perceive form, space, and narrative.

Regional winner and finalist of the Philippine Art Awards (2014), one of the Philippines’ most significant contemporary art competitions. His solo exhibitions include Take in the Stillness (2025), Instill (2024), Divergence (2023), and Beyond the Gray Horizon (2022). While his work has been primarily exhibited within the Philippines, the presentation marks an exciting opportunity to introduce his practice to an international audience for the first time, expanding the reach of his distinctive visual language beyond its local context.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Samsudin Wahab (Buden). Today, the Malaysian art scene loses more than just a creator, we lose a dear friend, a mentor, and a visionary who touched so many lives.

Buden broke onto the scene with his first solo show, Enough!, at TAKSU in 2008, forever changing the landscape of Malaysian contemporary art. A vanguard of the "Neo-SR" generation, he traded old-school activism for a sharp, collective awareness rooted in the internet and indie sub-cultures. His work possessed a clarity and maturity well beyond his years. Buden’s true gift was his dexterity, blending oil, bitumen, and linocuts to navigate complex themes with the kind of casual ease only a true master could achieve.

You will be deeply missed, Buden... Your legacy lives on through your art.

New Artwork Addition: Ioannis Sicuya

These works belong to a series in which Sicuya reimagines the tradition of capriccio painting through a sculptural lens. By blending the practice of miniature-making with an interest in Catholic imagery, he creates fantastical landscapes composed of fictional architectural elements. These pieces serve as ports for the viewer’s imagination, acting as catalysts to unlock new and unfamiliar worlds.

TAKSU is thrilled to announce the opening of Material Culture, a group exhibition showcasing sculptural works by local and international artists.

In a landscape often dominated by the two-dimensional, this exhibition explores the sophisticated frontier of sculpture by redefining the boundaries of volume and mass through a quiet rebellion.

By uniting polymers, traditional carving, and ready-made, this showcase asserts a bold diversity of materials. These pieces do more than merely occupy space; they position three-dimensional form as a vital bridge between innovation and traditional craftsmanship.

Join us as we celebrate TAKSU’s first-ever large-scale sculpture exhibition. Let’s fully leverage this milestone to craft a compelling and engaging story!

Exhibition Date: 16 April - 2 May 2026

Celebrating the Wonder of Space Through Artemis II and Art

With the world captivated by the groundbreaking Artemis II launch, humanity has pushed the boundaries of exploration once again. As the first crewed mission toward the Moon in over 50 years, Artemis II carries astronauts farther from Earth than ever before, venturing around the Moon’s far side and briefly passing beyond our planet’s reach as a powerful reminder of the vast unknown of space.

Inspired by this spirit of exploration, Issarezal’s Gravity series mirrors the same sense of wonder and boundless possibility. Just as Artemis II reveals unseen perspectives of the Moon and redefines humanity's reach, these artworks invites viewers to step into the vast unknown, experiencing the mystery and emotional depth of space. It reminds us that while missions like Artemis II expand our physical horizons, art expands our imagination, allowing us to experience the universe not just through science, but through our emotions and feelings.

The striking triptych artwork captures the raw textures and layered history of Penang, Malaysia, through a unique fusion of photography and surface abstraction. Printed on aluminium, each panel reflects industrial relics, faded signage, and weathered surfaces — moments frozen in time from the streets of Penang.
