Title: My playgrounds
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 80cm x60cm

This painting explores the concept of “home” as an emotional landscape that extends beyond the front door and into the shared spaces of a neighbourhood. For a
child, the local playground and garden are not just public parks; they are a primary site of discovery where identity is quietly forged through the repetitive rhythm of play.
By capturing iconic Dragon Playground and Toa Payoh Garden,I am documenting the small details that hold traces of who we were. Both parks served as a gathering point for early memories and relationships, becoming a physical anchor for the person I have become.
In this work, the playground and garden are treated as a “kept object”—a memory carried forward and lived through. It represents the transformation of a public space into a private sanctuary, proving that home is not just where we sleep, but the spaces we inhabit so deeply that they become part of our internal geography.

Title: Ice Cream Wrapped in Bread
Dimension: 76.5 x 76.5cm
Medium: Mixed Media

Artwork Description

“Ice-cream Wrapped in Bread” draws from a familiar Singapore street ritual, approached as a point of departure rather than direct depiction. Developed through an intuitive, layered process, the composition is anchored in soft whites, with turquoise and teal passages, a rust interruption, and a deep green trace. Drips and melt lines form through gravity and time, evoking the sensory contrast of cold sweetness, softness, and gradual melt.

The work examines convergence and dissolution, structure giving way, surfaces shifting, using the motif as a metaphor for impermanence and memory. The object recedes, leaving an atmospheric field shaped by everyday experience, where a quiet sense of joy, home, and familiarity is felt rather than defined.

Title: Cosy chaos
Medium: Acrylic painting on canvas
Size: 30 x 30 inches (76cm x 76cm)

Home is rarely the curated version we present to the world. It is the unwashed cup on the bedside table, the patched-up childhood toy, the clutter that accumulates in corners like quiet confessions. ‘Cosy chaos’ invites you into an intimate interior where disorder tells the truth. Through a semi-abstract folk style, the painting assembles an eclectic cast of domestic objects, each one a piece of an inner life that isn’t put on display. Together, they speak of comfort, of the
self that only emerges when the door is closed and no one is watching. This is home not as an aspiration, but as honesty.

Title: The Afterglow of The Reservoir 1&2
Medium: mixed media on paper
Dimension: 50x 60cm (each)

“I believe the starting point of architecture is home. Home originates from humanity’s most fundamental desires. It
truly reflects the traces of people’s long-time existence in a particular place and is deeply influenced by the local climate
and environment.“ — Tadao Ando
Huang Li Xian is a contemporary artist active in both Singapore and China, with a rich and diverse artistic résumé. She has held and participated in numerous exhibitions across Singapore, China, and beyond. Her works have been featured
in China Guardian Auctions and are included in the collections of several art museums. Before becoming a full-time artist, Huang spent many years working in interior design in Singapore, where she also founded her own design company. In 2018, she made a decisive transition into the field of fine art. Through three years of formal training, she obtained a bachelor’s degree from the China Academy of Art, laying a solid academic foundation for her artistic career. Born in a coastal town in Fujian, China, Huang has lived in Singapore for over two decades. These two places continuously interact and intertwine within her memory and artistic practice. In her view, the notion of “locality” extends beyond the depiction of a specific geographic site; rather, it constitutes a complex emotional construct in which the boundaries between the “local” and the “foreign” become blurred. Her artistic practice is rooted in a keen sensitivity to architecture and spatial experience, focusing on the interplay between the inner psychological realm and the external physical environment—a concept she defines as the “Third Space.” Through a personal lens on everyday life, she integrates reflections on time, memory, and lived experience into her work, exploring the tensions and harmonies between elements and capturing the subtle coexistence of opposition and interdependence within the ordinary.”

“As a self-taught artist, my practice centers around the quiet beauty and movement of the humble goldfish. Using layers of epoxy resin and hand-painted details, I create works that exist between painting and sculpture — suspended moments that appear alive beneath the surface.

Each piece is carefully built layer by layer inside ceramic or wooden bowls, allowing the fishes to emerge gradually in three-dimensional form. The transparency of resin mimics the depth and fluidity of water, creating an illusion of movement, light, and life. Viewed from above, the works reference the traditional way goldfish were once admired in porcelain and clay vessels before the invention of glass aquariums.

The goldfish, for me, represents stillness, grace, memory, and the fleeting nature of beauty. Through resin, I attempt to preserve these fragile moments — to freeze time while allowing the fishes to continue gliding endlessly within their imagined waters. The layered process captures a balance between motion and permanence, creating the illusion that life itself has been gently suspended.

Every work is painted entirely by hand, with each fin, tail, and body formed through multiple transparent layers of resin and paint. The result is both meditative and immersive: an intimate world where the fishes remain forever in water, untouched by time. “

Title: Emerald Abundance
Size: 76cm x 102cm
Medium: Oil on Canvas

In Emerald Abundance, home is defined as a space of
nourishment and renewal. This study captures the quiet settling of the Singapore Botanic Gardens—a sanctuary where the artist finds a moment of stillness away from
the city’s pulse. The work explores the intimate dialogue between tranquility and growth, capturing the precise moment where water meets and sustains the earth. By
inviting the viewer into this space of verdant reflection, Tracy illustrates how home is not just a place of rest, but a fertile ground where the midday heat fades and the richness of life takes root. It is a visual reminder that home is found wherever we feel most alive, grounded, and deeply connected to the world around us.

Title: Closed No.4
Dimension: 38cm (W) x 28cm (H)
Medium: Watercolor on paper

This is a quiet memory of home, where time lingers on forgotten details. The rusty lock and weathered metal bars echo the old doors of back lanes where childhood once
unfolded. Layers of peeling paint and textured stains carry stories of years gone by. Light cuts across the surface, casting shadows that feel both distant and familiar. In these worn objects, the spirit of home endures—humble, silent, and
deeply rooted in memory.

Title: Colors of Home
Dimension: 60x60cm
Medium: Acrylic On Canvas

Inspired by the iconic HDB block in Tampines, Singapore, known for its resemblance to the old analogue TV test patterns, this painting reflects nostalgia and the warmth of childhood memories. These relics of the past bring character
to the old neighbourhood and remind me of a time when there were only three television channels available.
When the telecast ended, this familiar test pattern would appear on the TV screen—a simple image that became part of everyday life and childhood memories. Seeing these colours now brings back moments of family, comfort,
and simpler times. The hanging laundry, open corridors, and lived-in spaces reflect the beauty of ordinary life and the quiet comfort of belonging. Home is more than a place—it is
memory, emotion, and connection. Through this artwork, I celebrate Singapore’s spirit, where nostalgia and everyday life come together in colorful harmony.
