A quiet moment of play, carrying a deeper meaning. 🐼

In Panda-Playful (2026), Aaron Gan captures the gentle nature of the panda through delicate, expressive watercolour.

Beyond its endearing presence, the panda symbolises peace, harmony and good fortune. Its distinctive black and white coat also evokes Yin and Yang — opposing forces existing together in balance and harmony.

Recognised around the world as a gentle ambassador of friendship, the panda becomes a fitting subject for Aaron’s light and contemplative approach to watercolour.

Meet the Artist | Aaron Gan

Aaron Gan is one of Singapore's leading contemporary watercolour artists, celebrated for his ability to capture light, atmosphere and emotion through the expressive medium of watercolour. After leaving his corporate career in 2012 to paint full-time, he quickly established himself with a sold-out debut solo exhibition in 2013, marking the beginning of an acclaimed artistic journey.

In 2015, Aaron made history when his painting Starry Starry Night became the first watercolour artwork to receive the Gold Award at the UOB Painting of the Year competition. His works have since been featured in national media, commissioned by organisations including MediaCorp, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UOB and Ng Teng Fong Hospital, and presented as gifts to royalty and world leaders. Notably, a painting commissioned by Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs was presented to U.S. President Barack Obama during Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's official state visit, while his watercolour portrait of Mr Lee Kuan Yew is now part of the Prime Minister's Office collection.

Beyond the studio, Aaron is passionate about sharing the joy of art. He has collaborated with schools, community organisations and leading brands, inspiring audiences through workshops, talks and demonstrations while continuing to champion the versatility of watercolour.

In Chinese culture, the lotus carries a beautiful double meaning. The word for lotus, hé huā (荷花), shares the same pronunciation as hé (和), meaning harmony. Rising immaculate from muddy waters, the lotus is also a timeless symbol of purity.

Within Lotus-Harmony Home, Aaron Gan brings together 12 lotuses — representing completeness and balance — in a gentle composition of flowing washes and expressive brushwork.
