Singapore Art Museum SAM is a Museum In Action, bringing art experiences into everyday spaces. Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore.

Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar. SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public and future generations through exhibitions and programmes. At Punggol Regional Library, the three sculptures can finally be viewed together, weaving together the story of Tayโ€™s fictional island. Crossing paths in this imagined ecology, the Taโ€™Lur fruit, Selatri insect and Zauran bird form the basis of how the inhabitants of Sangkalan understand their world.

Visitors can explore a storytelling fable, a take-home sticker activity, and a publication sharing insights into the artistโ€™s research. Admission is free!

Contemporary art has always been about staying curious, exploring perspectives and understanding the world we live in today. Get to know Eugene a little better as he shares what drew him to contemporary art and what continues to fascinate him about it.
