It is the first and most comprehensive of its kind in Singapore, featuring a good number of gems and minerals from around the world. This privately owned museum is an initiative by Far East Gem Institute to bring about the knowledge and experience of gemology. 90% of the gems and minerals samples belong to the founder of Far East Gem Institute, Mr. Tay Thye Sun, who is an internationally recognize

d scientist, researcher and gemologist. The Gem Museum was founded upon the passion to educate gemology and to create a platform for gem lovers to share knowledge and experiences. Yesterday was the 17th National Crystal Growing Competition held at National University of Singapore organised by the chemistry department!

The photo shown is the champion Copper Sulphate crystal! Look at the colour anr crystal shape!

More than 15 schools including Secondary Schools, Junior Colleges, ITEs and Polytechnics took part!

Kunming was the invited guest and he spoke about crystals in our daily lives!
