iPreciation is pleased to present Ink Unbound – Wang Dongling · Chaos Script. The exhibition’s theme originates from Wang’s rich creative practice and his diverse experiences that transcend national borders, paying tribute to Wang’s reimagining of traditional calligraphy with his signature chaotic script.

Ink Unbound brings together a selection of 29 smaller works from recent years, tracing the evolution of Wang’s practice within a global artistic context. His works draw upon classical Chinese poetry and philosophy while engaging in dialogue with international modernist and contemporary traditions, from gestural abstraction to avant-garde calligraphy. Rather than reinforcing East-West distinctions, Wang’s practice positions ink as a fluid, transhistorical medium of exchange.

Through ink, gesture, and performance, Ink Unbound proposes Wang’s chaotic script as a living, embodied practice, one that continuously reactivates tradition through experimentation, spontaneity, and transformation.

In conjunction with Wang Dongling’s participation at the 61st Venice Biennale China Pavilion, Dream Stream, iPreciation is pleased to present Ink Unbound –
WangDongling · Chaos Script, a solo exhibition of small works by one of the most influential figures in contemporary ink practice. The Venice Biennale, taking place from 9 May to 22 November 2026, underscores the international significance of Wang’s practice and its continued evolution across transnational borders. Prior
to the above, Wang will be performing a monumental work measuring roughly two by five meters inspired by the Tao Te Ching in chaotic script at Bologna Museum,
Italy, on 6 May 2026. The exhibition highlights Wang’s pioneering “chaotic script,” a reimagining of Chinese calligraphy that fuses classical discipline with expressive freedom and bodily performance, offering a relook at contemporary abstraction.

We are pleased to announce that our artist, Oh Chai Hoo (b. 1960, Singapore), has been shortlisted for The 2026 Sovereign Asian Art Prize.

His artwork Into the Unknown 林深不知处 is currently available for silent auction:

Into the Unknown 林深不知处 (2024)
100 × 100 cm
Mixed Media with Gold Leaf on Canvas
Estimate: US$9,600–14,400

Oh Chai Hoo's (b.1960, Singapore) artistic journey is deeply rooted in nature and philosophy. Living near Bukit Timah Hill, he draws inspiration from rock formations, mountainscapes, and the lush tropical landscape, which he reimagines through ink, clay, and calligraphy. For Oh, ink painting is the truest form of expression; each brushstroke an indelible mark of presence, honesty, and meditation. His ceramic sculptures and seal carvings echo this sensibility, embodying both the permanence and impermanence of natural forms. His works transcend mere representation, offering contemplative spaces where identity, memory, and nature converge.

Into the Unknown delves into the profound interplay between the forces of nature and the relentless march of time. Using black and golden-brown pigments, Oh captures the ephemeral yet profound dialogue between fleeting moments and the enduring concept of eternity. The immersive black foundational tone acts more than just a backdrop - it's a canvas for existential contemplation. Onto this, the artist carefully applied the paints, allowing them to intermingle and flow with an organic freedom. This calculated choreography creates layered formations reminiscent of geological formations and a vast, enigmatic emptiness, an artistic mimicry of the timeless rhythms of the natural world.

Oh Chai Hoo's work has been exhibited in Epiphany, iPreciation, Singapore (2025); Timeless Present, iPreciation, Singapore (2023) and Marks on Earth, iPreciation, Singapore (2021). He was awarded the Siaw-Tao Best Artwork Award in 2013 and the Highly Commendable Award in the Abstract Medium category at Sinapore's18th UOB Painting Competition in 1999.

iPRECIATION is delighted to present Distance Resonance – Paintings by W***y Tay, a solo exhibition showcasing the artist’s latest body of works that furthers his exploration of colonial histories and their enduring imprint on contemporary Singapore. Inspired by archival photographs, historical events, and recomposed visual fragments, Tay’s textured oil canvases oscillate between memory and myth.

Tay’s works are largely enigmatic, resisting resolution yet reflecting critically on how power and displacement influence our postcolonial present. Comprising equestrian figures, stoic monuments, and hushed interiors, Tay’s dense compositions bear the weight of accumulated histories. Collectively, these works probe how fragments of collective memory are recontextualized in a postcolonial society that continues to grapple with its hybrid cultural inheritance.

Beneath Tay’s historical inquiry lies a sensitivity to the city’s rhythms – its imposing architecture that interweaves remnants of empire with postcolonial desire. Spanning works from 2022 to the present, the exhibition frames Singapore as a migrant city shaped by the continuous flow of people across its borders. This migrant condition is less a demographic fact than an enduring temporal condition – a mode of inhabiting time with one foot in departure and another in arrival. In this context, the canvas functions as a threshold where distance collapses into proximity and the act of looking becomes an ethical encounter.

iPRECIATION is delighted to present Distance Resonance – Paintings by W***y Tay, a solo exhibition showcasing the artist’s latest body of works exploring colonial histories and their enduring imprint on contemporary Singapore. Drawing from archival imagery, historical events, and reconstructed visual fragments, Tay’s paintings move between memory and myth, inviting reflection on identity, history, and perception.

1. Arriving in Toa Payoh (2025)
183 × 102 cm
Acrylic, Oil and Oil Sticks
Inspired by early exploration narratives, W***y Tay reinterprets the idea of arrival through a deeply personal lens. The work reflects on identity, displacement, and the emotional undercurrents of transition, drawing parallels between Singapore’s transformation and the artist’s own inner journey.

2. Mirage of Memories (2024)
158 × 237 cm
Acrylic, Oil and Oil Sticks
An exploration of revisiting and reworking the past, this work suggests that memories and histories are fluid, shifting like a mirage with perspective. Its layered process reflects how understanding evolves over time, while inviting viewers to consider that meaning is never fixed.

3. Repackaged and Retold (2024)
158 × 237 cm
Acrylic, Oil and Oil Sticks
This work reflects on how narratives are repackaged across generations, reshaping meaning and revealing the fluid nature of historical accounts. It encourages viewers to question established narratives and recognise that understanding the past requires continual reinterpretation.

4. Talking Heads (2025)
168 × 143 cm
Acrylic, Oil and Oil Sticks
Reflecting on the overload of information in contemporary media, the work presents multiple voices that repeat or present conflicting narratives. W***y Tay examines how these layered perspectives can blur truth, prompting viewers to question how narratives are formed and understood today.
