Warren Wee, a collector and curator based in Singapore and Tokyo, points out the characteristics of the local market: โIn Singapore, many people place a lot of emphasis on real estate investment. I think there is still a need for more education to deepen understanding of art.โ
During this yearโs Singapore Art Week, Wee also organized an exhibition focusing on new media/digital art at the historic Tiong Bahru Air Raid Shelter. He positively views the role that fairs like ART SG play, saying, โContinuing to hold such fairs will increase exposure and help nurture a younger generation of collectors. Over time, people will not only view art as an asset, but will also develop an understanding and appreciation for it as a culture.โ
