Yeo Workshop is pleased to present โ€˜We Are Here and Still Lifeโ€™ by Maryanto, opening this Saturday 22 November, 3-8pm.

Through meticulously hand-drawn scenes and an immersive installation depicting landscapes often in ruins-particularly those in Indonesia-Maryanto transforms these terrains into poignant archives marked by industrialisation, cultural memory, and exploitation: traces of humanityโ€™s uneasy relationship with nature.

โ€˜We Are Here and Still Lifeโ€™ marks the artistโ€™s fourth solo exhibition at the gallery and will feature collaborative works by techno-sculptor Chok Si Xuan.

Merging two past exhibitionsโ€”โ€œart bitโ€ and โ€œCharacter Matrixโ€โ€”the show examines character design, pop culture, and the fusion of Western art history with Asian traditions. Through paintings, animation, and interactive games, the exhibition also reflects on 80 years of post-war Japanese culture and questions artistic responses to todayโ€™s global tensions.
