✨ And it’s open! ✨

FOM President Lee Hong Leng and several of our dedicated docents—who have been researching this special exhibition for months—attended last night’s VIP opening at the Asian Civilisations Museum.

This spectacular new exhibition showcases masterpieces of Mughal, Safavid, and Ottoman art on loan from the Musée du Louvre.

We’re excited to begin FOM-guided tours from 1 July. We look forward to welcoming you! 🎨🏛️

New faces, familiar faces, and plenty of great conversations ☕💙

Around 60 members joined us for our Newcomers Coffee Morning, where they enjoyed coffee, snacks, a tour of ACM, and a glimpse into all that FOM has to offer.

But above all the morning was about what matters most—making connections and being part of the wonderful FOM community.

A warm welcome to our newest members, and thank you to everyone who came along. We can't wait to see you at future events! ✨

Last week, a lucky group of twenty had the rare opportunity to step inside some of Singapore’s iconic Black & White Houses with Explore Singapore!

A special thank you to FOM’s Karien van Ditzhuijzen for welcoming us into her beautiful home and sharing fascinating insights into the original purpose and design of these historic houses, as well as how they have been adapted for contemporary living.

An unforgettable glimpse into a unique part of Singapore’s architectural heritage.

In the last lecture of this season, Dr John Kwok re-examined, through a decolonised lens, one of Singapore's most intriguing historical artefacts—the Singapore Stone.

The talk began with the discovery in 1819 of a mysterious stone monument near the mouth of the Singapore River. Early observers referred to it simply as "Singapore's Principal Curiosity." Bearing an undeciphered inscription, the monument attracted considerable interest before being destroyed in 1843 during engineering works. Today, only a fragment survives and is preserved as the Singapore Stone 🪨.
