Weekdays 10-6pm, Weekends & PH 12-6pm Gajah Gallery is a Singapore based art gallery that explores the diverse concerns of contemporary Southeast Asia through art from the region. Established in 1996, Gajah Gallery is dedicated to the promotion of Southeast Asian Contemporary Art with a particular emphasis on the Indonesian Contemporary. We exclusively represent leading Indonesian Contemporary Artist, Nyoman Masriadi, Yunizar and the JENDELA group (Jumaldi Alfi, Handiwirman Saputra, Rudi Mantofani, Yusra Martunus, Yunizar). We have limited our scope of activity as it is our primary mission to gain representation for them before increasing our stable of artist. We are focused on these objectives as we believe that every generation produces a limited number of artists who reinvents the wheel. With growing interest in the recent years, Indonesian contemporary art has seen a marked increase in international collectors. Gajah Gallery's extensive client-base includes private collectors, art consultants, architects and interior designers. Exhibitions are held regularly at the gallery including collaborations with the Singapore Art Museum and the National University of Singapore Museum.

As 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴, 𝘚𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 draws to a close, we reflect on the conversations that have emerged around the exhibition.

“Ultimately, their practices look beyond the physical appearance of a structure. Instead, they consider the people, memories, identities, and behaviours that give those structures meaning.” — The Metro Edit, 2026

Bringing together Jemana Murti, Kayleigh Goh, and Sarah Choo Jing, the exhibition approaches structure as something beyond the tangible: shaped by the lives it holds, the memories it carries, and the ways in which it continues to change.

𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴, 𝘚𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 remains on view for one final day at Gajah Gallery Manila, closing tomorrow.

Jemana Murti’s practice considers what happens when inherited traditions are translated through new systems. For him, tradition and modernity don’t exist in opposition, but can unfold alongside one another, each shaping the other.

Hear from Jemana as he reflects on his practice and the ideas explored in 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘦, his latest solo exhibition now showing at Gajah Gallery Singapore.

Today, we celebrate Yusra Martunus, an artist whose practice is defined by a quiet yet continual rethinking of form, material and perception.

Working across painting and sculpture, Martunus is known for transforming the physical qualities of materials, often making rigid structures appear soft, fluid, or weightless. His works invitt us to look again and reconsider how form can be understood.

For today’s Throwback Thursday, we revisit Yusra’s works presented in 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴: 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘶 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘭𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘺𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘴 (2023). Bringing together pioneering and contemporary artists connected to the Minangkabau region, the exhibition looked beyond a singular definition of Minangkabau art, instead tracing the diverse artistic practices and cultural dynamics that have shaped its past and continue to inform its present.

Happy birthday, Yusra. Here’s to another year of transforming the familiar and the unfamiliar✨

At the centre of Ridho Rizki’s practice is a sustained engagement with still-life. Yet rather than treating the genre as a fixed mode of representation, Ridho continually tests its boundaries.

His earlier works are grounded in the visual language of observation, where objects are rendered through considered compositions and attention to their physical presence. His recent works move away from this more conventional understanding of still life, introducing shifts in scale, form, and visual structure that disrupt the stability of the depicted object.

The transition reflects a broader movement in Ridho’s practice, going from representing objects as they appear, towards examining how they can be reconstructed through the act of painting. Still-life becomes a framework, one through which perception, transformation, and the material possibilities of painting can be explored.

Delve into Ridho Rizki's latest visual explorations in his solo exhibition, 𝘉𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴. On view until October 18 at Gajah Gallery Jakarta.

Between image and memory, history and the present, Octora continues to weave new ways of seeing.

Today, we celebrate Octora and her ongoing artistic practice, which examines the intersections of image, history and collective memory. Through photography, weaving and embroidery, she questions the colonial gaze and the ways gender, identity and cultural histories are represented, remembered and understood.

Her works invite us to look again; to question what we inherit, whose perspectives are remembered, and how images can be reimagined through material, labour and care.

Happy birthday, Octora. May the the stories continue to unravel🧵🪷

In 𝘕𝘈𝘕𝘋𝘐 (𝘝𝘖𝘐𝘋), Jemana Murti places the familiar figure of Nandi, the sacred bull associated with Shiva, within a weathered rectangular structure. The muted grey surface suggests something aged, unfinished, or unearthed, while the electric blue of Nandi introduces a distinctly contemporary presence, almost as if the figure has been generated through a digital system.

The meeting of grey and blue brings the work into a space between the old and the new. Nandi remains recognisable, although parts of its form have been removed, leaving gaps and interruptions that speak to what may be lost or altered as cultural forms move between generations. Here, tradition and technology do not remain separate, but walk together through a process of translation.

𝘕𝘈𝘕𝘋𝘐 (𝘝𝘖𝘐𝘋) is part of 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘦, Jemana Murti’s solo exhibition, still on view at Gajah Gallery Singapore until October 25, 2026.

Celebrating another trip around the sun for Kawayan De Guia, whose world is as eclectic as the objects that find their way into his art 💫

Moving between painting, installation, and sculpture, Kawayan brings together unexpected objects, cultural references, and fragments of history. Rooted in the heritage of the Cordillera region, his practice navigates the intersections of tradition, identity, and everyday life, often with a playful twist and a sharp sense of humour.

Here’s to another year of curious encounters, unexpected connections, and many more stories to tell. Happy birthday, Kawayan!

𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘦, a solo exhibition by Jemana Murti, opens today at Gajah Gallery Singapore.

Marking his second solo exhibition with Gajah Gallery, Jemana presents an extension of his material explorations in 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘦. Rooted within Balinese Hindu knowledge systems and traditions, whilst also growing up alongside significant advances in computing and technology, Jemana has developed a keen sensitivity to the intersections of tradition and technology. This sensibility finds expression in his use of digital processes, 3D modelling and printing.

Discover more about Jemana’s practice at 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘦, opening today at 6.30 pm at Gajah Gallery Singapore!
