In a conversation with Tawatchai Somkong, we came to understand MISS as a word layered with multiple meanings.
While Miss is a title used for women, it also signifies something missing. For many transgender women, that absence may be the full legal recognition of their gender identity, despite living fully and openly as women.
Through this lens, MISS extends beyond representation. It opens a space for dialogue around identity, visibility, and the rights that remain out of reach, inviting us to imagine a more equitable future.
MISS is on view at MATDOT Art Center through 28 June 2026.
Free admission.
