Pillars of Creation by Sandra Saradesi presents a series of sixteen paintings that explore the invisible structures believed to sustain the unfolding of life and consciousness. The works draw inspiration from the teachings of the mystic and seer Almine, which describe sixteen primordial principles as foundational forces of creation. Through a contemporary visual language, the artist translates these ideas into abstract compositions that evoke the dynamic processes through which form and life emerge.

Across many cultures, pillars appear in sacred architecture and ceremonial structures as symbols of stability, balance, and the unseen frameworks that support existence. In this exhibition, the pillar becomes both metaphor and visual presence, suggesting the structural principles that sustain creation.

Working with alcohol ink, Saradesi allows pigment to flow freely across the surface, forming layered movements and organic structures. The resulting compositions evoke moments when form arises from fluidity, reflecting the generative forces that shape nature, the cosmos, and human consciousness.

Together, the sixteen works form a symbolic architecture that invites viewers to reflect on the foundations of both the universe and human awareness.

MATDOT Art Center presents Pillars of Creation, a solo exhibition by Sandra Saradesi. The exhibition presents a series of sixteen paintings that explore the invisible structures believed to sustain the unfolding of life and consciousness. Drawing inspiration from the teachings of the mystic and seer Almine, which describe sixteen foundational principles of creation, the exhibition translates these primordial forces into a contemporary visual language.

The sixteen works form a visual constellation — a symbolic architecture that encourages reflection on the principles that shape both the universe and human consciousness. The exhibition offers a space for viewers to consider how these layers of foundation may also exist within the inner architecture of human awareness and collective evolution.

MATDOT Art Center presents “Linear Text of Delirious Time 2” by Nisar Hossain, featuring a series of paintings that explore the condition of the contemporary world through an intense and dynamic visual language.

The works reflect a world marked by chaos, confusion, and the collapse of order—where war, environmental crises, and capitalism increasingly shape and disrupt human life. Hybrid figures of humans and animals emerge, shifting and merging in disoriented, unstable states.

As a continuation of his 2017 exhibition of the same title, this body of work suggests that the world’s “delirium” has not faded, but has instead intensified. The exhibition becomes a reflection of both the external world and the inner psychological state of our time.

INTRANSIT 2026 by Stephen Eastaugh

During his residency and working period at MATDOT Art Center, the artist documented Bangkok through the eyes of a “farang” who has fallen deeply for the city — from its beautifully chaotic atmosphere, extraordinary Thai food, and warm-hearted people, to the creative energy that continues to draw him back time and time again.

This reflection also offers a glimpse into life and work inside MATDOT: the making of new artworks, experiments in the studio, conversations with students and fellow artists, and the small everyday moments unfolding between cafés, workspaces, and the old quarters of Bangkok.

What began as a plan to write a collection of short stories unexpectedly evolved into the creation of new works on paper, while also becoming a meditation on Bangkok itself — a city that is hot, humid, noisy, sticky, and yet strangely unforgettable.

We invite you to read this personal account of travel, art-making, and residency life — a story filled with observations on art, people, culture, and the many moments that took place within MATDOT through the perspective of an international artist returning once again to captivating Bangkok.

MATDOT Art Center and Centre for Bharat Studies, Mahidol University invites you to join an Artist Book Workshop led by Amritah Sen, a contemporary artist from Kolkata, India, whose practice is deeply engaged with storytelling, memory, and the histories of people across South Asia.

Through her research-based artistic practice rooted in the context of Bengal, and her participation in artist residencies across countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, Amritah has developed an approach that draws on personal narratives and micro-histories as key materials in her work—particularly in the form of artist books.

This workshop offers participants the opportunity to explore the artist’s working process by engaging with their own memories, stories, and everyday experiences, transforming them into handmade artist books. Participants will experiment with a range of techniques, including drawing, text, collage, and found materials.

The session introduces an artistic research approach that integrates storytelling with image-making, encouraging participants to understand how a “book” can function as a space for documentation, inquiry, and the re-interpretation of personal experience.

This workshop is open to artists, students and anyone interested.
