We thank everyone for joining us for "cluB pluto", a performance conceived by Parinda Mai and Braty Collective on the occasion of her exhibition “Inviting You To Die With Me”, curated by Rosalia Namsai Engchuan, with a special performance by Amadiva and visuals by Treerat Leena.

Honing in on the Pluto placements of the members of the newly minted cluB pluto in a fictional setting reminiscent of mechanical office announcements, Braty performed a charged poetic rendering of Pluto interpretations. A continuously evolving loop of live reading and subtitle projections proposed narrativity as a shared temporal practice. For a moment in time we were all sitting with the clingy attachments to our greatest obstacles before releasing into a powerful musical contribution by Amadiva.

A special thank you goes to our audience's generous contribution to conversations on the generational aspects of shared Pluto signs and what this implies about the nature of change within that generation. (Pluto stays in a sign for at least a decade). Within such a shared terrain, what does it mean (and what does it take) to step into collectivity rather than focus on an improvement of the self? Questions that still linger with us.

This event is part of Bangkok Kunsthalle's larger curatorial focus on different avenues of healing and rehearsing our futures collectively.

Bangkok Kunsthalle invites you to an artist talk with Hutsama Juntaratana on her sculptural installation “Offerings" and how it sits within her larger practice of local bio-based materials research as a way of attending to duration through material persistence. The talk will take place on Saturday, 2 May, from 3 - 4 PM, and will be conducted in English.

“Offerings" are bio-based, meaning they are made from organic materials derived from living or once-living matter, rather than synthetic or petroleum-based components.

This public program concludes “Inviting You To Die with Me,” a moving image exhibition by Parinda Mai with bio-based sculptural works by Hutsama Juntaratana and a public program with Braty collective, with a collective wrapping of the sculptures in beeswax-covered cloth. In a shared gesture of care, the work will gradually be released from the space.

Afterwards, one last day will remain for audiences to be with Parinda Mai’s moving image works, after the materials have already left.

ขอเชิญรับชม “เรือนแพ” (2504) ภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยมรางวัลตุ๊กตาทองประจำปี 2505 โดยผู้กำกับพระเจ้าวรวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าภาณุพันธุ์ยุคล และอำนวย กลัสนิมิ ที่ผสมผสานทั้งแอ็กชัน โรแมนซ์ ตลก ดราม่า และดนตรีได้อย่างลงตัว ในวันเสาร์ที่ 25 เมษายน 2569 เวลา 17.00 น. เป็นต้นไป

ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ประพันธ์โดยเวตาล และอำนวยการสร้างโดย พระเจ้าวรวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าภาณุพันธุ์ยุคล และ จรี อมาตยกุล นำเสนอเรื่องราวของชายสามคนเพื่อนรักที่เช่าเรือนแพริมน้ำอยู่ร่วมกัน แม้จะมีภูมิหลังและความฝันที่แตกต่าง แต่ชะตากรรมของทั้งสามกลับพัวพันกันด้วยความรักที่มีต่อหญิงสาวคนเดียวกัน แม้ต่างแยกย้ายจากกันไปแล้ว หากบทบาทชีวิตกลับชักนำให้ทั้งสามต้องโคจรกลับมาพบกัน พร้อมกับโศกนาฏกรรม

กิจกรรมนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโปรแกรมฉายภาพยนตร์ไทยคลาสสิคของบางกอก คุนส์ฮาเลอ ที่อยากชวนชมหนังและชวนชิมขนมไปพร้อมกัน โดยในทุกการฉายจะมีร้านของทานเล่นในละแวกชุมชนของเราพลัดเปลี่ยนกันมาให้ลองชิม กิจกรรมนี้เปิดใ้ห้เข้าร่วมฟรี แต่ด้วยที่นั่งมีจำนวนจำกัด เราจึงขอสงวนสิทธิ์ให้เพื่อนบ้านในชุมชนของเราก่อน

Join us for a screening of “Ruen Pae” (The Boat House, 1961), winner of the Thai Golden Doll Award for Best Film in 1962, on Saturday, 25 April 2026 from 5 PM onwards. Directed by Prince Bhanubandhu Yugala and Amnuay Klutsanimi, the work blends action, romance, comedy, drama, and music.

Written by Vetal and produced by Prince Bhanubandhu Yugala and Charee Amatayakul, the film follows the story of three close friends who share a boat house by the river. Despite their different backgrounds and aspirations, their lives become entangled through the love they shared for the same woman. Though they eventually part ways, fate draws them back together, leading to a tragic turn of events.

This event is part of Bangkok Kunsthalle's Thai classic film screening programme, bringing together film and snacks for an evening of community gathering. At every screening, a rotating selection of local vendors from our neighbourhood will be on hand with treats to try. Free admission. As seats are limited, priority is given to our local community members.

การสนทนาครั้งนี้สำรวจแนวคิด “สมบัติโดยไม่ครอบครอง” (properties without possession) ผ่านเรื่องเล่าที่เกิดขึ้นระหว่างการสร้าง cells ของอับซาลอง ทั้งเรื่องการต่อต้าน ข้อจำกัดของวัสดุ และสภาพภูมิอากาศ การสนทนาครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแค่จะนำเสนอแนวคิดของศิลปินที่ว่าด้วยการกำหนดอาณาเขตโดยปราศจากดินแดน หรือการยอมรับการทำลายชิ้นงานจำลองสำหรับจัดแสดงเมื่อสิ้นสุดนิทรรศการเท่านั้น หากยังรวมถึงมุมมองความคิดของทีมผู้สร้างชิ้นสำเนานิทรรศการเหล่านี้ ที่มองเห็นการกำหนดอาณาเขตของวัสดุ (territorialisation) และการคลี่คลายออกจากอาณาเขตนั้น (deterritorialisation) ผ่านกระบวนการสร้างชิ้นงานนี้

Join us on 25 April 2026 from 4 - 5 PM for this discussion, part of the public program of “Description Without Place” by Absalon. The discussion will be in Thai.

This conversation explores the idea of “properties without possession” through the stories of material resistance, limitations, and climatic conditions that emerged during the production of Absalon’s cells. It considers not only the artist’s notion of marking territory without land, or the acceptance of the demolition of the exhibition copies, but also the makers’ own framework, recognizing the territorialisation of materials and the act of deterritorialisation through the process of making.

Bringing together PuPla Trikaewprasert, researchers exploring nomadology in materials and making, who led the production of the exhibition copies, and Gemmica Sinthawalai, exhibition designer of “Description Without Place,” the discussion offers a way to understand how sustained engagement with material practice can reshape conceptual insight.

Join us for a screening of “White Building,” part of “Concrete Ghosts” screening series, on Saturday 11 April at 5 PM.

“Concrete Ghosts” attend closely to the transformations of urban space and the fragile communities that inhabit it. As Phnom Penh and other Southeast Asian cities transform under the pressures of rapid urban development, buildings outlive their inhabitants and the spirits that once animated them begin to wander. Architecture is haunted by the ghosts of modernity.

Samnang grew up in Phnom Penh’s White Building — a modernist housing complex from the 1960s that has long been home to artists, workers, and their families. As he and his friends prepare for a televised dance competition, news arrives that the building is to be demolished. Caught between friendship, family, and first love, Samnang must find his footing as the world he has always known begins to disappear.

“White Building” premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. The work is directed by Kavich Neang who grew up in the building. “Concrete Ghosts” is presented in collaboration with Anti-Archive, a Phnom Penh–based production company behind a new generation of Cambodian filmmakers.

TONO x BANGKOK KUNSTHALLE Screenings

As part of the fourth edition of TONO Festival in Mexico, curated by Samantha Ozer, Rosalia Namsai Engchuan, curator of moving images at Bangkok Kunsthalle, was invited to present a program at Museo Amparo in Puebla. At each edition, TONO collaborates with an international museum on screening programs, previously partnering with MMCA (Seoul), MoMA (New York), and PAMM (Miami).

“Training Grounds,” a program of moving image works by Thai artists, explores the ways in which power operates in subtle and often silent, yet increasingly forceful ways—through repetition, monumentalization, ritualization, the external capture of dreams, and the pressures of capitalism that drain life.

The program featured works by Montika Kham-on, Oat Montien, Tulapop Saenjaroen, Harit Srikhao, Wannawat Suwannarath, and Chulayarnnon Siriphol.

In addition, two works by Bangkok-based artist Jeanne Penjan Lassus were presented: “a part of us exposed” (2025) and “What sways” (2024). Curated as a cinematic experience, audiences were invited to shift perspectives—embodied, then floating; a creature’s, a human’s, a plant’s—followed by a conversation with the artist on her approach to attuning the body to spaces preceding representation and narration.

We thank TONO Festival and Samantha Ozer for the invitation, Ramiro Martínez Estrada and Museo Amparo for hosting, and extend our gratitude to all artists and audiences for the inspiring exchange. We look forward to continuing this curatorial dialogue, with a shared focus on moving image practices from the Global South(s).

นอกจากนี้ ยังมีผลงานของ จัน เพ็ญจันทร์ ลาซูส อีก 2 ชิ้น ได้แก่ “a part of us exposed” (2025) และ “What sways” (2024) โดยโปรแกรมถูกออกแบบในลักษณะประสบการณ์เชิงภาพยนตร์ เชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมเปลี่ยนมุมมองจากร่างกายสู่สภาวะล่องลอย จากสายตาของสิ่งมีชีวิต มนุษย์ และพืช ตามด้วยบทสนทนากับศิลปินว่าด้วยการปรับจูนร่างกายให้สัมพันธ์กับพื้นที่ก่อนการนำเสนอและการเล่าเรื่อง

On April 5 at 6 pm Bangkok Kunsthalle invites you to cluB pluto as part of the public program of the exhibition ‘Inviting You to Die with Me’ by Parinda Mai, curated by Rosalia Namsai Engchuan.

The performance creates a fictional space, where members of Braty Collective together with Amadiva transmit astrological Pluto placement readings by Parinda Mai. Rather than focusing on self-improvement, cluB pluto is about a collective embrace of our greatest challenges.

The performance starts at 6 pm and while registration to get an anonymized reading as part of the performance has closed audiences are welcome to join and learn about the collective entanglements of our plutonian pathways.

การแสดงครั้งนี้จำลองพื้นที่สมมติขึ้น โดยสมาชิกของ แบรทตี้ คอลเลคทีพ ร่วมกับ Amadiva ทำหน้าที่ถ่ายทอดตำแหน่งดาวพลูโตในดวงชะตา ที่ตีความจากการอ่านชะตาโดยภาริณดา แทนที่จะตั้งอยู่บนวาทกรรมของการพัฒนาตนเอง คลับพลูโตกลับชวนให้เรายอมรับความท้าทายร่วมกัน ในฐานะภาวะที่ต้องดำเนินผ่านไปพร้อมกัน

การแสดงจะเริ่มต้นเวลา 18.00 น. แม้ว่าการลงทะเบียนเพื่อรับการอ่านดวงแบบไม่เปิดเผยตัวตนจะปิดลงแล้ว หากผู้ชมยังสามารถเข้าร่วมเพื่อรับชมและสำรวจความพันเกี่ยวร่วมกันของเส้นทางแบบ “พลูโตเนียน” ได้

บางกอก คุนส์ฮาเลอ ร่วมกับ Giorno Poetry Systems ภูมิใจนำเสนอนิทรรศการ Dial-A-Poem Thailand

นิทรรศการได้รวบรวมศิลปินไทยทั้ง 35 คน จากหลากหลายแขนง ตั้งแต่กวี ศิลปินทัศนศิลป์ ผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์ ศิลปินเสียง และศิลปินเพอร์ฟอร์แมนซ์ เพื่อขยายพรมแดนของบทกวีให้ก้าวข้ามข้อจำกัดที่อยู่นอกเหนือไปจากตัวอักษร พร้อมตั้งคำถามถึงนิยามและความเป็นไปได้ของบทกวีในบริบทของสังคมไทยร่วมสมัย ผู้ฟังสามารถรับฟังผลงานเหล่านี้ได้ผ่านการโทรศัพท์ไปยังหมายเลข 097-531-0708 หรือผ่านตู้โทรศัพท์ที่ติดตั้งอย่างถาวร ณ บางกอก คุนส์ฮาเลอ และ เขาใหญ่ อาร์ต ฟอเรสต์ ทุกครั้งที่มีการโทรออก ระบบจะสุ่มเล่นเสียงบันทึกของศิลปิน สร้างบทสนทนาและประสบการณ์อันเป็นส่วนตัวระหว่างศิลปินและผู้ฟัง เป็นผลงานที่จะดำรงอยู่เพียงชั่วขณะของการสนทนาทางโทรศัพท์เท่านั้น

ในบรรดาผลงานทั้งหมดที่ได้รับการคัดสรร บทกวีไม่ได้ถูกจำกัดอยู่เพียงรูปแบบที่ตายตัว หากเป็นพื้นที่แห่งการขยายขอบเขต ครอบคลุมตั้งแต่เสียงบันทึกข้อความอันเป็นส่วนตัว เสียงที่ถูกสร้างจากอัลกอริทึม ไปจนถึงเสียงที่เกิดขึ้นจากความบังเอิญ และเสียงจากพิธีกรรม อย่างไรก็ตาม นิทรรศการนี้ยังคงหยั่งรากลึกอยู่ในภูมิทัศน์ทางเสียงอันรุ่มรวยของประเทศไทย โดยได้ร้อยเรียงภาษา ภูมิภาค และมิติทางวัฒนธรรมอันหลากหลายในประเทศนี้เข้าไว้ด้วยกัน ทั้งเสียงประกาศขายของริมทาง เสียงพากย์มวยไทย ไปจนถึงภาษาถิ่น และบทสวดให้พรของพระภิกษุ ด้วยแนวทางดังกล่าว Dial-A-Poem Thailand จึงนำเสนอทั้ง "บทกวี" และ "ความเป็นไทย" ในฐานะสภาวะที่ลื่นไหลและไม่สมบูรณ์ เปลี่ยนแปลงและวิวัฒนาการไปอย่างไม่หยุดยั้ง

Bangkok Kunsthalle, in partnership with Giorno Poetry Systems, is proud to announce Dial-A-Poem Thailand.

Bringing together 35 Thai artists across poetry, visual art, film, sound, and performance, the project expands poetry beyond the written word, questioning what poetry might be in the contemporary Thai context. The works are accessed by dialing +66975310708 or through permanent telephone installations at Bangkok Kunsthalle and Khao Yai Art Forest. Each call plays a recording at random, forming a private encounter between artist and listener—an artwork that exists only for the duration of the call.

Across the selection, poetry emerges not as a fixed form but as a site of expansion—ranging from intimate voice messages and algorithmic speech to chance-based compositions and ritualized sound. Yet, the curation is rooted in Thailand’s rich sonic landscape, the project weaves together multiple languages, regions, and cultural registers—from street vendors and Muay Thai commentary to regional dialects and monastic blessing. In doing so, Dial-A-Poem Thailand proposes both poetry and Thainess as fluid, unfinished conditions—continuously shifting, and perpetually becoming.

From 1 to 3 April in the screening room at Bangkok Kunsthalle, “Urban Jungle” project is presented daily from 5 to 6 PM, on loop.

Part of Global Artscapes, an ongoing series of design studios and seminars led by Alessandra Cianchetta worldwide (Yale, Cornell, The Cooper Union, IKA Wien, HKU), “Urban Jungle” is a research and design-driven project that explores the retrofit and re-use of Bangkok Kunsthalle. Through adaptive strategies, it engages the latent potential of the building, rethinking it as a porous cultural ecosystem where art, architecture, and city life intersect.

Positioned at the intersection of art economies, and public urban futures, the project considers how contemporary art can act as an economic and spatial catalyst—revitalizing disused structures, generating new forms of value, and reshaping the relationship between institutions and local contexts.

“Urban Jungle” เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ Global Artscapes โครงการต่อเนื่องของสตูดิโอออกแบบและสัมมนาที่นำโดย อเลสซานดรา เชียนเค็ตตา ในหลายสถาบันทั่วโลก ในครั้งนี้ โครงการสำรวจและนำเสนอความเป็นไปได้เชิงสถาปัตยกรรมของการปรับปรุงอาคาร บางกอก คุนส์ฮาเลอ ผ่านกลยุทธ์ที่มุ่งกระตุ้นศักยภาพแฝงของอาคาร และมองพื้นที่แห่งนี้ใหม่ในฐานะระบบนิเวศทางวัฒนธรรมที่ซึ่งศิลปะ สถาปัตยกรรม และชีวิตเมืองมาบรรจบกัน

ภายใต้บริบทของเศรษฐกิจศิลปะ และอนาคตของเมือง โครงการนี้ตั้งคำถามว่าศิลปะร่วมสมัยสามารถทำหน้าที่เป็นแรงขับเคลื่อนทั้งทางเศรษฐกิจและเชิงพื้นที่ได้อย่างไร ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการฟื้นฟูอาคารที่ถูกทิ้งร้าง การสร้างมูลค่าในรูปแบบใหม่ หรือการนิยามความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถาบันกับบริบทท้องถิ่นขึ้นมาอีกครั้ง

“Hydroelectric Spectre” engages invisibility to render perceptible the vast yet obscured infrastructures that sustain contemporary life. For one night, from sunset to sunrise, field-0 [Jingru (Cyan) Cheng & Chen Zhan] transforms the open rooftop of Bangkok Kunsthalle into a sonic portal connected to the power grid linking the Vajiralongkorn Dam Reservoir.

The installation resonates with a corresponding sound bar presented in Singapore as part of the Singapore Biennale. Together, these works trace Southeast Asia’s emerging transnational power grid connecting Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, situating sound as a medium through which territorial and energetic entanglements become perceptible.

At the core of this project is the Water Campaign initiated by field-0 with the Karen Indigenous community living within the Vajiralongkorn Dam Reservoir. The campaign raises funds to design and install a rainwater harvesting and filtration system providing clean drinking water for the Pilok Pho Village Nursery.
