🐍 Behind the Scenes: The Green Anaconda Project
Our dedicated museum volunteers are hard at work preserving one of nature's most impressive giants!
We currently have two fascinating preservation projects underway featuring the Green Anaconda:
The Skin: Volunteers are meticulously treating and preparing the skin to showcase the incredible scale patterns and sheer size of this apex predator.
The Skeleton: A second team is articulating the complex skeletal structure, highlighting the specialized anatomy that allows these snakes to thrive in the wild.
This work is vital for our research collections and future displays, offering an up-close look at the biology of the world's heaviest snake.
Stay tuned for more updates from the lab!

We’re happy to share our first‑ever post with UWIZM volunteers!

Yesterday, our UWI student volunteers focused on cleaning shelves and specimen jars, an important part of keeping our collections safe and well maintained. As volunteers clock more hours with us, they’ll take part in increasingly advanced museum activities and gain deeper hands‑on experience.

Huge thanks to our volunteers for contributing their time and care as we grow our volunteer programme.
Interested in getting involved? This is just the beginning! 👀✨
