The highly anticipated 2026 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale will officially open on July 31, inviting visitors to explore the relationship between humanity and the earth.
Curated by Japanese curator Daicho Tomohiro, the exhibition is themed “When Humans Meet the Earth.” Taking contemporary ceramic art as its point of departure, it examines how nature, life, faith, cities, and civilization intersect through the passage of time, offering a renewed perspective on the relationship between human existence and the environment. Through four thematic sections—“Earth,” “Cycle of Life,” “Myths,” and “Artificial”—the exhibition explores how people live upon the land, create, believe, and sustain civilization. Using ceramics as a medium, it unfolds a profound and ongoing dialogue between humanity and the environment.
The exhibition’s visual identity is composed of layered, interwoven blocks of color arranged like a landscape, symbolizing the accumulation of the earth, geological strata, rivers, and traces of civilization. Red, blue, white, and earthy tones resonate throughout the composition, evoking the convergence of different cultures, memories, and histories across time and space, and reflecting the encounter and dialogue between humanity and the earth.
In the summer of 2026, we invite you to visit Yingge, step into the world of ceramic art, and experience the warmth and strength of clay.
