It was a great day today at the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame museum in the Mall of Abilene as more than 100 family and friends were in hand to honor this year’s state medalists in tennis, golf and track. Thanks to everyone for your support.

Happy Memorial Day! On this week's Hall of Fame Facts, we're wrapping up our 5-part series looking back at our inaugural class of inductees from 2002. We celebrated our 25th anniversary last month, and thought it would be fitting to look back at our first incredible class of inductees.
This week, Al shines a spotlight on the only Big Country native to don a coveted green jacket, Charles Coody. A Stamford native, Coody won the Masters Tournament in 1971 and is a 3-time PGA Tour winner.
You can learn even more about all of our inductees by visiting our Museum, located next to JC Penney in the Mall of Abilene, or visiting our website.

This week, Al shines a spotlight on one of the most decorated athletes in UIL history, Mindy Myers. A Munday native, Myers earned 24 medals during her high school tenure and added another in 2022 when her Haskell girls track team took home the team title.

Happy Monday! On this week's Hall of Fame Facts, we're continuing a 5-part series looking back at our inaugural class of inductees from 2002. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary 3 weeks ago at our 2026 Induction Banquet, and thought it would be fitting to look back at our first incredible class of inductees.

This week, Al is highlighting the second Pro Football Hall of Famer from our 2002 class, Don Maynard. Known for being Joe Namath's favorite wide receiver, Maynard left an incredible legacy and was a Super Bowl champion.

You can learn even more about all of our inductees by visiting our Museum, located next to JC Penney in the Mall of Abilene or visiting our website.

Last Sunday, we held a Scholarship Reception for our 2026 scholarship recipients at the museum. This is a special time where we award college scholarships to deserving student-athletes from the Big Country. We love the opportunity to support the bright futures of these Big Country students. Including this year, we have awarded over $190,000 in scholarships.

Your support provides us the opportunity to do this, and we'd be grateful if you would consider donating to our 501c3 non-profit organization today during Abilene Gives. Donate here: https://www.abilenegives.org/organizations/big-country-athletic-hall-of-fame

Last week, we headed to Jayton to celebrate the incredible year the Jaybirds have had. Their football team has won back-to-back state championships, and their boys basketball team has won three consecutive state championships. We're so proud of these student-athletes and were honored to be a part of their ring ceremony.

Since opening our museum, we have made it a point to honor all of our Big Country teams and athletes who medal at the state level through receptions. Your support helps make that possible. We'd sure appreciate if you would consider a donation to the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame through Abilene Gives.
