Yesterday, Abiquiú Dome had the honor of welcoming the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run team as they make their way across all 50 states in the U.S., carrying the Peace Torch on a global journey dedicated to peace.

There was a profound sense of heart in witnessing the Peace Torch being carried and passed from one person to another. A symbol of connection, hope, and shared humanity. The runners, who come from countries all over the world, brought such warmth and sincerity with them. Local resident Hilary Lorenz even joined the team for a 7.5-mile stretch through Abiquiú to the Dome.

Together, we shared stories and songs of peace beneath the New Mexico sky. At one point, the runners asked us to sing them a song in return, and we chose “Love Can Build a Bridge” by The Judds - a fitting message. One of these photos captures that exchange, and it’s something we know we’ll carry with us forever.

We are truly grateful to have connected with such a beautiful mission and such extraordinary people. What began as a stop along the route became an experience that touched our hearts in a lasting way.

On Sunday, May 24, we invite our community to gather at Abiquiú Dome to welcome the international team of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run as they make a refreshment stop along their journey through Northern New Mexico. Traveling from Santa Fe to Cebolla along US-84, the runners will carry the Peace Torch across 81 miles, sharing a simple but powerful message: peace begins within each of us.

The team, representing 7 different countries, is currently on a 4-month journey through all 50 states in honor of America’s 250th Anniversary. Along the way, they connect with communities, schools, and people from all walks of life, inviting everyone to share in the spirit of peace, kindness, and human connection.

We would love for you to join us in giving them a warm Abiquiú welcome. Come gather, cheer them on, share a moment of connection, and celebrate this meaningful journey together. Light refreshments will be served. Their estimated arrival will be in the early afternoon. We’ll be open 11am to 4pm. 21557 US-84, Abiquiu, NM 87510. No public restroom.

We (Connie & Becca) are back playing music on the next three Mondays in May on the dining terrace at Abiquiu Inn from 6-8pm. Our set features nostalgic hits from across the decades you can’t help but sing along to. If you’re in the area, we hope to see you there! 🎶🤠✨
