SPECIAL GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT!

We are thrilled to announce our second musical guest for River & Roots, Voice 24/7!

"We are a band from the Washington, DC metro area specializing in R&B, Classic R&B, Contemporary Jazz, Jazz, NeoSoul , Funk, Motown, Southern Soul. Adding the flavor of the DMV, we are also known as an R&B band with a GoGo pocket, the music genre the Washington DC area is known for. We are also an Atlantic Starr/ SOS Band Tribute Band having performed this show at Keystone Korner in Baltimore, Maryland.

We cater our show and music according to the needs of the client. We are unique because we can combine all these music types for a complete musically diverse show, as we move from song to song.

There are 2 lead vocals consisting of a male vocalist and female vocalist. Our drummer will also add vocals from time to time.

We design our song lists to keep the crowd on the floor and to simply have fun. Because of what we do and the beautiful blend of our voices we have received compliments from many, including recognized DJs and radio hosts.

The musicians and vocalists have over 30 years experience each in performing, many having traveled and played with well known names locally and nationally such as Miki Howard, Regina Belle, Gloria Brown, Verdine White, Gerald Levert, Isaac Hayes and The Delfonics. And local well known names such as Chuck Brown and Al Johnson from The Unifics. The majority of the band have also successfully worked with local music agencies such as Washington Talent agency and Entertainment Exchange, one owning and managing a band with Entertainment Exchange.

Due to all of the above, Voice 24/7 fully understands the professionalism required to be successful in the business called music both on the stage and off. Voice 24/7 is a band that ensures its audience is being entertained and having fun. We simply love what we do and want to share what we love with you."

Come check out Voice 24/7's performance at Piscataway Park on June 28th! River & Roots is FREE and open to all!

(Re)introducing our buildings!

The Accokeek Foundation cares for several unique historic structures at Piscataway Park.

These buildings allow us to tell the stories of this land and the people who have lived and worked on it for generations. As our programming has evolved, so has our interpretation of these buildings.

In honor of National Preservation Month, we’re spotlighting our partnership with funders like the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority to restore and maintain these important parts of Southern Maryland heritage.

This Earth Month was a wonderful one with our volunteers! From the beginning til the end of April, they were doing honorable & healing work removing debris from the Potomac shoreline.

We are grateful for the community support and participation to care for places like Piscataway Park, so thank you Potomac Appalachian Trail Club - PATC, Tanger Outlets, Prince George's County Office of Community Relations, and each of our individual volunteers for being a part of our community!

And thank you to the “unseen ones” of our community who pick up litter during your leisure time at the park ❤️

While Earth Month has come to a close, this isn’t the last time we’ll be hitting the shoreline. Our next clean-up will be May 24, 10:00AM – 11:30AM. Sign up here: https://volunteer.bloomerang.co/volunteer/ #/shift-selection?k=njcr5ytl2frkg8

See you then!

When passionate people come together in service of place, preservation, and future generations, meaningful impact is possible.

We were honored to stand alongside the National Park Foundation and nonprofit partners from across the country yesterday as we met with congressional leaders to advocate for critical funding for our national parks.

Special thanks to Senator Chris Van Hollen for his commitment to protecting our public lands, and to the dedicated staff who shared their time to discuss the urgent funding needs facing parks and communities nationwide.
