Labor Day was born in 1894 out of a railroad strike, and every mile of track in this country was laid by hand before it was ever ridden for fun.

She cast a ballot she wasn't allowed to cast. Then she stood trial for it.

On Sunday, September 13, the Democracy Limited Train rides again. 🗳️🚂

Aboard our vintage railcar, Susan B. Anthony tells the story of the vote that put her on trial. Then Lucy Burns takes over with an account of the "night of terror," the night she was jailed and force fed for demanding the right to vote. These are the stories behind the 19th Amendment, told in the voices of the women who lived them.

When the train pulls back into the station, refreshments are waiting, along with a treat baked from the Suffrage Cookbook.

Departs Sunday, September 13 at 1:30 PM. Presented with the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum, back for a second year.

Parking is at 55 Depot St, Adams. The platform is at 4 Hoosac St.

Fall foliage season is coming to the rails. 🍁🚂

Beginning September 19, the Hoosac Valley Explorer runs weekend foliage rides through the Berkshires — a narrated hour aboard a vintage railcar as the valley turns gold and crimson. Weekends through October 12, departures at 11:00, 1:30 & 3:00.
