Friends of the Aiken Railroad Depot Embracing our Heritage, Enriching our Future Many of their descendents still live here.

The beautiful Aiken depot served local travelers going to Charleston or Augusta and beyond, as well as thousands of Winter Colonists that came here for many decades. That building was demolished by the railroad in 1954 when the railroad ceased passenger travel to Aiken.

Tis' the season for trains, toys, trinkets, and more!

Visit the City of Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum gift shop at 406 Park Ave. SE for a great selection of train related items, Aiken ephemera, signed prints, and autographed books on local history sure to satisfy the toughest on your list to shop for.

All proceeds go directly to Friends of the Aiken Railroad Depot to support future programming at the museum. Happy Holidays!

Beginning Monday, July 12th, the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum will be open Monday - Saturday 9 am - 5 pm. This will allow residents and visitors additional opportunities to visit the facility.
Located on the first floor is the interactive Drive-A-Train exhibit, visitor information, and gift shop. The second floor features nine dioramas that depict towns along the original South Carolina Canal and Railroad Company right of way. These dioramas are done in the familiar HO scale and are complimented by interactive displays depicting railroad history. Don’t forget about the historic trolley tour that departs from the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum at 10 am each Saturday. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased in person or online by visiting www.eventbrite.com and search for Aiken Trolley Tour.

National Train Day is 3 days away! We hope you can join us at the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum on Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. Admission is free. Tickets for the train ride are $1 per person (including adults and children). There will be live music, train rides for kids, balloon and face paint artists, a photo booth, and concessions. Stop by the caboose and meet Conductor Don. Masks are encouraged. Don't forget to check out the train museum and the Drive-A-Train exhibit! Sponsored by the Friends of the Aiken Railroad Depot.

The Friends of the Aiken Railroad Depot sponsored a special train themed Story Time in Gyles Park yesterday. Due to the weather, it was moved to the covered deck at the Train Depot. That did not stop participants from enjoying three stories read by board member Marty Bailey.
