Trace these cows grazing in a tree-lined pasture with distant mountains, small brook and bridge onto an 11x14” canvas, then follow the instructor through the painting process. Close up demonstrations of techniques make this an enjoyable class while learning and creating this scene. No experience necessary. Supplies included.

Capture a dog’s personality and spirit in an expressive painting. Using your own photos, you’ll be guided to explore color, shape, brushwork, and composition to create a lively heartfelt portrait full of character. All levels welcome. Supplies provided.

Students will trace this lovely cat onto a canvas and then follow Sharon step-by-step, learning how to mix colors and paint this kitty’s pretty green eyes and orange and white fur. Beginning techniques in painting will be emphasized in this friendly, fun workshop. All materials are included and students will complete this 9 x 12” canvas to take home.No experience necessary. Supplies included.

Gordon chronicles how visual communication has changed over time and the factors that influence those changes.

As a photographer, he has witnessed the role photography has played in visual communication and how photography has evolved over time. Gordon, himself, approaches his photography as a purist. He was born in England of Scottish descent with his inspirations as Richard Avedon, Hiro, Horst, and Irving Penn with whom he worked when he came to New York in his early twenties.

He is known for his fashion and beauty work and has been photographing celebrities since his early days with Interview, Andy Warhol’s magazine and advertising agencies. Clients include Lancome, Revlon, Clinique, Judith Lieber, Vidal Sassoon, Bill Blast, Oscar de la Renta and his work has appeared in Time, Life, Vogue, and Bizarre among others.

After retiring from commercial work, he and his wife moved to Aiken where he continues his passion, making portraits of horses and teaching.

Led by local artist Robert (Buzz) Campbell, students work to advance their artistic aspirations in a supportive atmosphere. Any and all elements of enjoying art endeavors are encouraged. Demonstrations and main areas of focus will include dynamic composition with strong value structure, comprehensive color use and appropriate edge work. Students provide their own supplies and are invited to bring reference material for subject matter. Oils and watercolors are recommended.
