Congratulations to our friend, Lawson Sakai, who was to receive his Congressional Gold Medal from the United States Congress today at the Capitol in Washington DC. He is one of the Japanese American soldiers who will be recognized for their 442nd Regiment services during World War II, including those who participated in the 100th Infantry Battalion and the Military Intelligence Service. Be sure to see the special exhibit honoring these units aboard the USS Hornet Museum on your next visit.

An interview with Lawson will air tonight on the Bay Area’s KTVU Channel 2 News at 6pm and 10pm.
