Founded in 2004, the Historic Carousel and Museum is creating a world class carousel complex in downtown Albany that will draw visitors from around the world and contribute to the economic revitalization of historic downtown Albany. Our mission is to construct a fully functional carousel which will hold 52 hand-carved and painted animals. The carousel will provide wholesome family fun for all ages.

The Historic Albany Carousel & Museum is made possible by amazing volunteers who give their time to help create special memories for families and visitors.

Whether you enjoy meeting new people, working with your hands, or helping behind the scenes, there's a place for you on our team!

Behind every beautiful carousel animal is a team of talented volunteers who give their time to bring these amazing creations to life.

Our painters spend countless hours carefully adding color and detail to each animal, turning hand-carved wood into something truly special.

We are so grateful for their patience, creativity, and dedication to the Albany Carousel.

In case you missed it, we had some excitement at the Albany Carousel earlier this week!

Rajah the snow leopard made the big move from our carving studio to the paint shop!

After countless hours of careful carving, he's ready for the next step in his journey.

With striking blue eyes, and a collection of colorful jewels, Rajah is already an amazing sight to see.

Now our talented volunteer painters will begin bringing even more of his beautiful details to life.

Bucky is getting his color, and the details are starting to come to life!

Our volunteer painters are hard at work bringing this beautiful white-tailed deer one step closer to joining the Albany Carousel.

One of the techniques they use is called "stippling." Instead of simply brushing paint across the surface, they use a tapping motion to help work the paint into the carved wood.

Bucky isn't finished yet, but it's amazing to see how much care goes into every detail.
