MENABONI BIRTHDAY: Artist Athos Menaboni was born in Italy 131 years ago today. Menaboni, who died in 1990, was known for his commissioned works that focused on birds and plants in the wild, particularly in South Georgia. This circa 1950s painting, "Brown Thrasher on Holly," gifted to the Albany Museum of Art by Bee and Anna Louise McCormack, is one of this artist's works that are in the AMA permanent collection. FANTASTIC BEASTS? HERE'S WHERE TO FIND THEM: If you haven't had the opportunity to experience O.M. Norling's unique dreamscapes with creatures and artifacts existing in unexpected environments, come out to the Albany Museum of Art and see his exhibition "Artifacts of a Fate That Never Was." The deadline for delivering your work to the AMA is October 27. The contest is open to middle and high school students in Southwest Georgia, and top high school winners will receive cash awards.
