The Edwards County Historical Preservation Society is hosting a Smoked Pork Loin Fundraiser to help support local history preservation projects.

Each pork loin is expertly smoked by Smokin Pig and ready for you to enjoy with family and friends.

🥩 $30 each
📅 Order deadline: June 12 - return order form to: COUNTRY Financial office at 1 N 5th St. Albion.
📦 Pick-up date: June 19 at the Albion Pagoda
⏰ Pick-up time: 3–5 PM

Our Spring (March 2026) Newsletter from the Edwards County Heritage Preservation Society will be mailed out later this month. Be sure to keep an eye out for it!

This issue is full of updates and stories highlighting everything the Society has been working on recently. We’re excited to share all that’s been happening and what’s ahead.

Old Jail: Our original goal was to save the old jail. I am happy to report this seems to have been accomplished. The jail has been found to be in sound shape (bones) but is in sad shape otherwise. Now we are raising money to help restore this building for future generations to enjoy. A member of our society with experience in documentation has been working for over a year to put the old jail on the National Registry of Historic places. This effort is about 90% done.

Additionally, members from ECHPS continue to attend both the monthly county commissioner meetings and PBC (Public Buildings Commission) meetings to update county and PBC officials concerning our progress. Ultimately the PBC (which is a legal entity within our county government) will have the final say concerning the ultimate interior usage of the building once restored.

Those with ideas for the additional use of this building should contact ECHPS so we can give voice to those opinions. PBC has made it known that the county needs meeting space and the rental of the old jail by an outside agency or business will not happen. We are working hand in hand with PBC and the county to see this through. We thank everyone for the ongoing support. We continue to raise money for both this and other heritage projects within the county.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Edwards County Heritage Preservation Society Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser such a wonderful success!

We are grateful to all who came out to enjoy a great meal and support our mission of preserving the history and heritage of Edwards County. The evening was filled with good food, friendly faces, and a shared appreciation for the stories and places that make our county special.

A special thank you goes to Abbi Cook for preparing the delicious meal, as well as to the many volunteers who helped serve guests, organize the event, and clean up afterward. Your time and dedication made the evening possible.

We would also like to thank everyone who made donations, spread the word, and supported the fundraiser. Your generosity helps us continue our work preserving the historical, architectural, and agricultural heritage of Edwards County for future generations.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Planned March 6!

The Edwards County Heritage Preservation Society will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Albion Moose Family Center, 43 N. 5th Street in Albion.

The meal will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and a drink. Cost is $10 per person, and the event is open to the public.

The dinner will be prepared by Abbi Cook. Proceeds will support the society’s ongoing efforts to preserve the historical heritage of Edwards County.
