There are moments that feel both steady and surreal at the same time.

Sitting down for this conversation on was one of them. Hearing my own voice tell the story back to me later as I listened to the podcast, I had butterflies. It is a strange and beautiful thing to reflect on your work out loud.

We spoke about building slowly. About choosing intention over speed. About what it means to create work that belongs in a home, not just on a wall. One thing I shared that stayed with me from this conversation: "Art should do more than fill a space. It should hold it."

This piece from my Golden Topography series was purchased by a collector in Houston. From the beginning, she knew she wanted something that captured the layered, textured landscapes that inspire this body of work.

The composition is influenced from being high above the clouds, the way the earth reveals itself when you look down from an airplane window.

Land slowly emerges through the atmosphere: mountains and valleys, marshes and lagoons, riverbanks and mudflats, fields lined with rows of crops, winding roadways, quiet neighborhoods, wide open plains, and bodies of water reflecting light. All of it translated through heavy texture and then tipped in gold. It is an abstracted terrain with an elegant nod to the beauty of the earth’s surface.

When I delivered the piece to her home in Houston and we hung it in the entryway, we both stepped back for a moment. Her home is filled with beautiful contemporary art, and seeing this work settle into that space felt incredibly meaningful. I was deeply honored for it to live there.

Recently, she sent me a message that stayed with me. She wrote, “I was walking by your painting, and it was so beautiful in the morning light that I thought I would send you a picture.”

When my work becomes part of a home’s everyday rhythm like that, living on the wall, changing with the light, it reminds me why I do this work. It feels like a quiet kind of magic, and I’m endlessly grateful for it. ✨

This line quietly guides the way I work. It reminds me that a piece does not need to announce itself to be deeply felt.

Instead, I think about what it gently reveals over time. It draws attention to the light in a room, the quiet between moments, and the subtle shift when a space begins to feel more like home.

This piece was commissioned in collaboration with and has now found its home in the sweetest room for a little one just beginning their life.

I have come to see frames like these as quiet collaborators in my work.

Finding them is never rushed. It is a slow, intentional search for something that feels settled and storied, as if it has already held beauty before and is ready to hold it again.

When I place one of my pieces inside a vintage-inspired frame, something shifts. The modern layers soften against the patina, and the painting feels anchored in a history it did not have on its own. Texture meets time. New brushstrokes meet worn gold.

This direction has unfolded naturally as my work evolves. It feels like a meeting place between my love of French influence and my Louisiana roots, where romance and depth live side by side.

I cannot wait to share more of this process with you, from sourcing to framing to the moment each piece finds its place.
