Kossuth County Historical Society The goal of our organization is to preserve and collect items of historical significance. As a qualified 501(c)(3), all contributions are tax deductible.

The Kossuth County Historical Society was incorporated in November of 1959 and is a member of the Iowa Museum Association. The goal of our organization is to preserve and collect items of historical significance to the people and places of Kossuth County, Iowa, and make them available to the general public. In addition to objects, we collect and archive photographs, records, documents and other hi

storical materials. MEMBERSHIP
Dues amounts are listed below and run on a calendar year basis. Membership includes subscription to the newsletter (one per membership). In addition to membership dues, KCHS welcomes donations, both of money and/or historical materials. NEWSLETTERS
The society also publishes a newsletter quarterly. To submit items for publication in a newsletter, please e-mail to [email protected] including “newsletter” in the subject line or mail items to KCHS, 122 S. Dodge St, Algona, IA 50511. To keep mailing costs down, newsletters are sent by email whenever possible. By providing an email address to us, you are helping us keep costs down and can be assured of receiving all breaking news from the society. RESEARCH CHARGES
We will research and answer queries regarding Kossuth County and its residents. The Society charges $10 per hour, plus copying costs and postage. The minimum charge is $10. Your research requests can be mailed to KCHS at the address listed above or can be submitted via email to Nancy Yeoman at [email protected]. When the materials requested are located, a bill will be sent and upon receipt of payment, the materials will be sent to you.

Another visit from Ambrose Call's descendants. Four Carroll brothers from California and Washington state visited on May 3rd. Joe, Steve, Chuck and Tom took a tour of the Museum and were amazed at the many Call artifacts we possess. Sons of Sue Hutchison Carroll; daughter of Theodore Call Hutchison; son of Edith Call (Archibald )Hutchison; daughter of Ambrose and Nancy Call.

Michael Newton, great-great grandson of Ambrose Call, recently visited Algona to bury his mother's remains. He later visited the Historical Museum. He was amazed at the Call artifacts at the Museum. He plans on returning for Founders Days in July.

Founders Day at the Kossuth County Historical Museum
Stop into the museum on Friday and Saturday between 10 and 4 to check out our special prehistoric artifact display. Then two doors down in our Wells Fargo building we will be showing reel to reel films from Kossuth County donated by Evelyn Ruhnke and Bill Dau of Call State Park, the 1954 Centennial parade and the Trinity Lutheran Church being built in 1949.
