The Old Jail Museum will be closed Saturday, September 12 & 19. We've broken out and are heading to the Allegan County Fair! 🎡

Find us at the John Pahl Historical Village, open daily during the fair from 9am-9pm. Step back in time with thousands of artifacts you won’t see at the museum, explore 15 historic buildings, pick up a souvenir, and treat yourself to c***r & donuts from Brookside Farms 🍩🍎

If you’re checking out the Michigan Fiber Festival, be sure to visit the John Pahl Historic Village!

The Village will be open Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, from 11am-4pm. Wander through the historic buildings and step back in time. The Historic Village will also be open during the upcoming Allegan County Fair, September 11–19.

The Michigan Fiber Festival returns to the Allegan County Fairgrounds for 2026 from August 12-16. Throughout the weekend there will be demonstrations herding, sheep shearing, sock machines, lace making, weaving, spinning and more! Celebrate Independence Day with a visit to the Old Jail Museum! 🇺🇸

We'll be open Friday, July 3, from 10am–4pm, then closed on Saturday, July 4 so our volunteers can enjoy the holiday.

The Old Jail Museum is open during construction! 🚧

Walnut Street in front of the museum is closed through September as Downtown Allegan infrastructure improvements continue, but the museum remains open and accessible every Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm.

Parking Options:
🚗 Fridays & Saturdays: Methodist Church parking lot (just west of the museum)
🚗 Saturdays Only: Allegan County Courthouse parking lot across the street

Please note that Trowbridge Street is temporarily a two-way street during construction to help visitors access the area.

We loved hosting the students from Allegan Online & Adult Education for a recent field trip at the Old Jail Museum! 🗝️

Exploring local history is always more meaningful when it’s shared, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to welcome groups like theirs through our doors.

On Friday, our K-8 students took a field trip to the Allegan County Historical Society Old Jail Museum. Thank you for hosting us - the students learned a lot and had a great time!
