Friends--

A few things about tours for this summer of 2026.

First, if the forecasted temperature is to be above 85 degrees, we will not offer tours. The house has no air conditioning and it can get very warm in the house, particularly on the second floor.

Second, and most importantly, it will help tremendously if you call or text a day or two ahead to confirm a tour will be available. We are happy to give a tour, but there are often Sundays when no one comes and our volunteers do not want to waste their time sitting at the house, waiting for people to show up, and no one does.

The best way to confirm a tour is a text to 217-343-1191 with what time and day you'd like a tour, or message us on our page.

We will gladly try to accommodate you, or work out a mutually convenient time.

We want to thank Tony Cavazos, the winner of our 50/50 drawing today, for donating his $200 prize back to the Wright House.

He and his wife, Sue (Satterlee) Cavazos (ACHS '74) were in town to meet some members of the class of 1974 at our event today.

Today is the day.
Nice weather, plenty of shade, bring your lawn chairs and plan to spend 2:00-9:00 pm at the Dr. Charles M. Wright House annual wine & music event.

Live music, 2:30-5:30 and 6:00-9:00

The Wright House will NOT be open today, September 7.

Please come visit us next weekend, Saturday, September 13, during our 19th annual Wine & Music Event, which happens from 2pm - 9pm. (You can learn more about the event at our "Events" tab here on our page.)

The house will be open from 3pm to 5pm that day.
