NWOSU Museum of Natural History The Museum of Natural History was established in 1902 by Professor G.W. Stevens, head of the Biology Department. In 1908 Stevens and his former student, T.C.

The Museum of Natural History features a variety of collections, including paleontological, anthropological, archaeological, geological, historical and natural history materials. It is the second oldest museum in the state of Oklahoma. Carter traveled to Alaska and spent seven months collecting various specimens. These were added to extensive collection of specimens native to Oklahoma. Carter and his students collected and prepared many of the materials on display today.
